I well understand that people are dying. My intention is not minimize their loss in any way. I'm just stating that I don't see people dying around me.

Should have closed all boarders before we got the delta variant...this lockdown is just going to destroy livelihoods. Only way to get out of this mess is vaccination and that is also a massive failure.

In St. Petersburg 150 people die per day of Covid. Same as in the whole of SA!
If the Delta variant has the same spread and effects as a common flu, then I have it since a week and couldn't care less. And maybe I had it 100 times before in my life?
As above, we had rules in place already, but hardly enforced.
And I want more. With all the testing a monitoring I demand to know:
- how many passengers got it in a plane (1 in 27 million traveller, I looked it up)
- how many school kids got it at school
- how many during public transport (other than air travel)
- how many in a gym, during a soccer match, in a restaurant, shebeen, bar, walking their dog, shopping at Midas, going to a wine farm...
It's been over a year now and all I hear all over the world is "this new variant is more infectious and people will die".

Same to you. I don't let people dictate to me how I should feel. I've been here for a long time anyway. Since 2012 in fact. I'm dealing just fine with criticism. It appears it's you who can't handle it.
And why would I have a problem with people discussing covid vs personal deaths?

I think its a good balance, more would probably help but we also can't stop living.
FYI this wave seems to be a bad one, already lost 5 people in our circle of friends - who went through waves 1 and 2 with no issue.
We really really need to push vaccines now. As much as I hate the EFF they are right that we need to get more options on the cards. There has to be a line between "I don't know if Sino or Sputnik are that great" vs "they died". I'm pretty sure all those who've lost people would gladly set aside possible concerns on whether the Chinese could make a vaccine vs having their loved one get sick but survive.

It's not about which level - it's about the failure of the vaccine programme. The ANC's obsession with retaining control (arising from their ideological blind spots and their hate of their incompetence in relation to the private sector being shown up) ensure this was always going to be a balls-up; but why should we expect anything different ?

My vote is Other again. One the one side, level 4 was enough reason for my boss to allow me to work from home again, which made me very happy, because now I'm safe inside my own 4 walls away from people.
On the other side watching the entertainment sector just be hammered over and over again is painful to watch. They shut down the cinemas. The one place where people were forced to sit meters away from one another and where they're not walking around.
And now all of a sudden hotels and B&B's can operate at full capacity, "because we have to think of the economy". But restaurants are closed again. Ok, for the evenings I get it, what with the curfew and all. It's hard to do a dinner service when your employees need to be home by 9pm. But they can't even open their doors for breakfast or lunch to try and make a living. And yet it's ok for the hotels to be at full capacity as long as the people just wear their masks in public areas and keep their distance. The rules are stupid!
And all this for what?! You still have people ambling around in the streets not following the rules and spreading their viruses all willy-nilly. You still have people protesting and making a mess of the place. I mean, hello super spreader event!!! And where is the police to enforce the rules with those people? Nowhere to be seen. They're harassing the soft targets out for their morning jog all on their own, keeping away from people.
So I will just hide away in my house and keep away from people as far as I can until maybe one day it's safe to come out again. Regardless of whatever level the government can think of next.
So we must do nothing and watch more people getting sick or die?

Not what I said. The question was asked when the 3rd wave was already on a roll. Many people (including close friends and family) got caught up in it and one lost his life... and that happened two days before the Prez changed things to level 4. If they did it to slow down infection the horse has pretty much bolted. Also, I'm not seeing new hospitals popping up or government pushing to get more people vacinated. They are also not publishing widely information on steps people can take to alleviate their symptoms. They're also doing bugger all to allay people's fear/ distrust of the vaccine.
So I didn't say yes because in the greater scheme of things I believe it is pretty much worthless and I didn't say No because seen in isolation it is an option with some slight benefits.
