Is there an IMAC like PC available?

Hi all,

I'm looking for an alternative to the IMAC
eg a complete PC inside the case of the LCD display

Does anyone know a local supplier here in SA?

Why not get an iMac if you like it so much?
 
I got a 24" Imac already and I like the concept of having only a power supply cable on my desk.

We need to get about 20 new pcs at the office and the Mac is just far too expensive.

I doubt that you would be able to find an all-in-one PC for less than R10k, which is what the cheapest iMac goes for.

Other options would be buying a shuttle PC which are nice and small and using ordinary LCDs with them.
 
the problem is that the 17" imac has got a too small screen and I was rather looking for something with at least 20" and the 20" Imacs are quite pricey.
10 - 12 K for a decent large LCD - PC would be OK.
 
laptops got usually crappy keyboards and small screens
( at least at 10 - 12k )
 
Get one big server with Citrix metaframe, and then dumb terminals for the users.
 
small pc or large pc; you'll have still all the cables.

An IMAC with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse is just cool. It seems that I have to persuade my boss for the extra money, or we have to keep the cable clutter.

A mac mini could just have two extra wires - a monitor cable and a power cord. It uses the same bluetooth keyboard and mouse. For general office work they're great.

... imagine a Beowulf cluster of those :-)

I am with Bwana on this one. Looking at 6-7k for the box and then add an LCD and you are within budget
 
The company I work uses touchscreens that have most of the functionality of a PC without the wires. The brand is ELO but they are kinda pricey. There may be a thin client available which is not a touchscreen but a normal PC in the same LCD screen
