Is there such a device?

Or - prepare a larger quantity of rice, freeze excess into portion sizes in sandwich bags, defrost and reheat in micro as needed

Why do that when you can just make it fresh in the Micro.

I've been having microwave rice for YEARS now as it's no different to doing it any other way (egg fried rice excluded) and because it's infinitely more convenient.

Frozen re-heated rice however is just not the same.

Sounds like you are either looking for:
a) An egg cooker - I can find some images for a single egg variant, but not really any local sources
b) A tiny kettle? Simply a small electric kettle with automatic shutoff
c) One of those long vertical "egg roll" thingies (eg. search for rollie eggmaster) - though I've never tried one (nor do I really want to)
d) A microwaveable bowl you can cook things in

My parents had a kettle that would maintain the heat until you needed it.

Its also had different temp settings like coffee you actually want the water just under boiling, so you could select that temp and it would maintain that temp for the water

I got the Sistema Microwave rice cooker and its great. Was about R250 and you can use it to steam pretty much anything. Chuck in the water and rice and I have perfectly steamed rice in 12mins... with some time extra to steam off the extra water.

Now, this would work for me. Means you could cook soups and stews as well.
Do you remember what it was called?

Yeah what you have there is a fancy container that makes quantities and things I've perfected years ago a little simpler.

I only change water quantity slightly depending on brand/type of rice but generally quite easy to cook it perfectly so it's wet but without any water in the bottom.

No lid required.

2min vs 20min.... I don't notice the difference in taste
