is this a bargain or not

I'd take it the DSG GTI is an awesome car. I very very nearly bought one myself, the price just wasn't right.

Buy it.
High mileage is not always bad, if you know the owner and you sure it "good" mileage, its a safe car.
They rarely break, if they do, theres ton of service centres that can fix it at a reasonable price.

Buy and sell it. Friendship and business don't mix , that shouldn't come into play.
If he wanted to, he could flog it himself for minimum R140k.

Friend's got the GTi6 DSG and that car is a pleasure. Also took a drive in the 5 and was fun.

Though GTi's are not to my personal liking.

Phone VW ( or any motor dealer) and ask the trade price on the car. Thats basically its value.

A car with more than 100k km's , no matter how well looked after, can surprise you big time. Its a risk.

If theres an active motor plan , perhaps you are ok but dont count on it.

You have a point, Dolby. That's like 262km per day for 18 months.

... that - and 18 months ago there was no Golf 5

Maybe the year is a typo, in which case everything works out ok
