Is this a clutch problem

I'd probably answer this question first, when was the clutch last changed? If it's thousands of km ago then definitely the clutch is out.

Another thing that can cause this are the engine mounts, especially the one on the drivers side.

Never! And we have that car for around 6 years now :p

clutches don't normally wear out unless you keep riding it, but it could be the case. Also might want to check the fuel pump as you saying this happens on an incline and also injectors as well.

Should read all the replies before posting. UPDATE Also happens on level road

Yeah clutch probably on its way out, but there are other ways to check this. Get it to a mechanic you can trust to inspect it, both the clutch and engine mounts.

Wouldn't there be some noise if this was the case, fuel pump telling you that it's working much harder as it should? I stand corrected.

I had a issue well still to a certain extend have the issue with a 2015 Ford Fiesta which has an Auto Box. The car would jerk in 1st and 2nd gear when I drive from 1Kmh to about 20 kmh and then it just runs smoothly after that. I took the car to Ford and they did the follow:

Software Update ( didn't fix it)
Changed the Petrol Pump
Changed the Coolant Pump
Changed all the injectors

Not the problem is intermittent. Much better than what it was not fully gone yet but I am still complaining to them about it.

If it is clutch its going to cost more than a simple service as there's quite a lot of labour involved. Take it to APS in Stikland and speak to Anton. He will give you a straight answer, and then you will know what you are dealing with. I have been taking my 11-year-old high-mileage Jeep to him since I got it almost 3 years ago and its still running like a dream.

Is it the powershift, those are known for that shudder nonsense. It was huge in australia if I recall correctly, but it was an issue with models from 2011 - 2014. It's a big job that requires special tools apparently and apparently there is no fix.
