Hi,
My GF's company recently moved to a new hosting provider. They've got a website that is a .com, and about 17 other domain names that were originally pointing to that domain. Now at the new provider, those other domains lead directly to the provider's website. To point those 17 domains to their main .com site, will cost them R35 per month per domain. Is it just me or is this basically extortion? They are not providing a month-to-month service, and getting one domain to point to another should in my opinion be at most a small once-off fee. Any thoughts?

The domain forwarding should not cost anything. You set it up in your DNS domain control panel. There should be an option to forward all requests for a domain to another domain directly from DNS.

What they are doing is using their DNS servers to point to the domain names to the primary domain name. I do think that R35.00 per domain name is a huge rip off if it is only for DNS. Do they allow any "add - on domain names" with the account?

Are the other domain names .com / international ones? Most domain registrar control panels (GoDaddy, etc) allow you to setup domain name forwarding for free.
