Hi guys

Wanna get a new PC but need some advice. Is this PC worth the price?

http://www.cafejava.co.za/

Its the very first PC they show on the site, the i5 for R6599

Anyone think this is worth it or is there a place i can get better for the same/similar amount? Im in Cape Town

Basically im looking for fast processing and to play games on it

Thx :)

Forget about gaming with a GT220 graphics card. Otherwise it's ok-ish. You can do better by building yourself always.

This is a bit pricey... Pretty much the same machine minus the graphics (costs around R800) will cost you R4299 at PCZone.
BUT you are in Cape Town so here's some pricing from RebelTech (nationwide online store) on almost the same spec from CafeViva...

Intel i5-650 - R1,752.18
Coolermaster Elite 332 - R361.31
INTEL "Media Series" "Tom Cove" - R965.51
Transcend JetRam 1GB DDR3-1333 - R276.72 x 2 = R553.44
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA2 - R494.24
Leadtek NVIDIA GeForce GT220, 1GB 128Bit DDR2 - R784.25
Samsung SH-S223C , 22x , Sata Super-multi - R218.72
Coolermaster eXtreme power plus 460w - R438.65
Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 700 - R259.81
Logitech LS21 2.1 Channel Speaker - R240.47

Total:R6068.58

Only trouble with this is you'd need to put it all together and it excludes shipping.
Point is though, I'm sure if you shop around a bit, you'd find better.

I built alot of pc's from java and am very fond of them.
I agree with everybody at the moment and their current prices are not the best.
I just did some basic cpu comparisons and found them pricey.
Best to look elsewhere and use java for odds and ends.

thx for the replies guys:) will have a look around before i buy

If you have the required skill then rather build it yourself instead of a finished box.

Also, the examples above need more RAM. 2gb is a bit thin nowadays, especially if you run vista/win7.

ill probably end up getting it built for me, yeah i made a new thread about a PC im considering but need advice first lol. That one has 3gb RAM

from my oppinion, that is definitely not worth it, you will get much cheaper, BETTER build if you do it yourself, or look somewhere else.
