My 2005 Citroen is showing 250 000 on the clock, is this possible for a 2005 car?

The reason im asking is because the service indicator is working in 100's of KM's instead of 1km's

EG its would be -500 one day then two days later -600. There is no way in hell i drive 100KM in 2 days.

The reason i have not serviced it yet is because it physically hasnt done 15000k since the last service thats why i made this thread, could a wheel sensor be buggered to what?

Surely you'd know the mileage of your own car? Even roughly...

And when you bought it you'd have known the mileage. And you'd have confirmed the mileage with the service book...

250 000 is perfectly possible for a fairly high mileage 2005 car.

Average is worked on between 20 and 25 000 per year - correct mileage would then be between 180 000 and 225 000.

Cars that push their mileage up very quickly are often better runners and less likely to give you hassles than low mileage ones.

The owner messed up the service book, now there are 2 service books and the latest one only goes upto 2009

That's not messed up. That's just not filled. I suggest you have that car checked properly. Thoroughly - cambelt et all.

I don't see why you're questioning the mileage though...

The service indicator probably just uses some averages.

Surely you can reset the trip meter when you start on the morning then check it when you get to your destination?

Use Google Maps to verify the same road travelled and then confirm if the numbers seem off.

Do you even know how far you get on a tank of petrol? This whole disregard for even knowing how far you are traveling is baffling.

Also some of these service indicator are more clever than just counting down the mileage.

The cars diagnostics might have triggered the service indicator even if it hasn't done a real 15 000km between services.

250 000km since 2005 is nothing. It's 2600km a month which I do with my bike quite happily, so it's pretty average really.

It is 8 years later after all.

It might be a oil-service which is required. Some cars state that a service is needed every 15 000 Km or once a year, which means if you drive less than 15 000 Km you have to do a oil change service and is so indicated on the dash.

Some people drive more than others , I drive about 35 000km per year now. If I keep that up for 8 years that's 280 000km.

OP is very weird... what's wrong with you rickster?

This thread is a bit weird - seems like OP was oblivious to reading for however long he has had the car and then suddenly woke up this morning and saw it for the first time....
