Is this what un-capped feels like?

On my Business 4mbps
Blended Usage for July
Uploaded 4.4341 GB
Downloaded 135.8874 GB
Combined Total 140.3215 GB
TopUp Purchased for July 0 GB

Enjoy.... Mine started Thursday(think earlier) and ended today 3 or 4 pm.

I am sorry but I think a Pics or it did not happen is in order!

Article to follow later tonight: Just to confirm that a glitch caused the 'uncapped' ADSL, and that subscribers will not be billed for blended bandwidth usage during this period (while this should be obvious, I still think it is cool that Telkom just writes it off). Local only usage after being capped (going over your 10GB, 20 GB etc) will however be charged as per normal.

BTW: Who notched up the most GB? I saw a 70 GB in earlier posts...anybody did more?

I hope your pulling our leg :( if not, I'm in for a shock.

I have been over my local cap a few times and have never been billed for it. Unless you have really gone to extremes, I don't think you have much to worry about.

You know I just dont get your attitude, fist you say we are thieves, then you basically admit to being a thief yourself, now you are moaning because some people downloaded more than you ????

Ha ha ha you have a very interesting habit of reading things into what people say.

I think you'll find that I was aware very early on that there was a "glitch" and decided not to milk it (feel free to go back and check the posts), so saying that I am moaning just because some people downloaded more than me is a little naive.

I would not expect you to "get my attitude" precisely the way I am never likely to see things your way. We clearly had very different upbringings. I do not feel I am required to apologise for having a different outlook to you on these matters.

I got billed +-R17 for the first time being just 1.1 GB over last month. I think you should rather assume that you will be billed, and consider it a bonus if you are not.

LOL, I did 7GB or so. All the stuff I wanted could be pulled from local so no need to look for international sources just to abuse the glitch.

All the guys that did 100GB+, will you ever even look at half the stuff.

It's such a pity that this uncapped stuff only lasts for a few days because most of us don't have invites to the really good international sites so getting one on such short notice is tough.

Telkom have cracked down now. Used to do 60+gigs on my 30gig local. I don't dare go over that now.

Hey. To ask another question...i have Firefox. So if i started a download from an international site and paused it, then when i am capped, can i continue the download from my local gigs? Or am i being a bit too hopeful? lol

A beer truck?

Well back in my youth, along the n1 somewhere in the karoo, a truck carrying JC Le Roux overturned, imagine the N1 all dark and lonely with twinkling bottle of sparkling wine all over the road.

The cops asked us to get off the bus and help clear the road, so we obliged, my parents were more than happy upon my return home.

Because they can write it off without making a loss, remember is cost them to same to provision us with 1 GB of bandwidth as it does to provide 30 GB.

LUCK -- Good Bad or Indifferent

It definitely is not theft. If you were to go to Pick 'n Pay to buy a six pack of long-life milk and they told you it was R20.00, would you:

A - Thank your gods and walk out
B - Take it back because you are used to paying R60.00

I was in the bank the other day. I do not go there often -- FICA keeps me away :)

Anyway as I was walking out I found a R100 note on the floor (Stru as Tru)

I went up to the bank lady and said "I found this money on the floor"

Just then a black dude appeared with his wallet open -- he thanked me most effusively -- but he never gave me a tip :erm:

Spose it is better that way -- otherwise I would have just spent it on Biltong :D

Sho after just reading this whole thread, I am amazed at what a moral debate this whole thing started.

@LanceSA, either u are very old and traditional, and a serious Helkom lover, or youre just pulling everyones leg.. That said, i do agree with most of the moral issues u raised, you almost made me feel bad for those bastards at one stage, but come the f*%k on, this forum is known for its Telkom haters, this has been better than christmas for most of these guys.

As for everyone else, you know what youve done is wrong, so go sit in the corner of the room till youve learnt ur lesson! You realise that Telkom is going to have to close doors because of your actions, shame on you!

Exactly as I said. Is it not funny how the definition of "theft" is interpreted to suit ones needs? In the supermarket example again, if that shop was known for putting a 2000% mark up on their products, would it then be justified for me to stuff my pockets and walk out without paying?

Just questioning the morality of it....

If we want to take it to extremes, if someone rapes/kills a family member of yours, are you then justified in killing them? So even if you are being raped by Telkom, raping them back when the chance arises makes you no better than them. My view would be that you would then forfeit your right to point fingers when some else does something immoral in future.

Your analogy sucks.

If the supermarket charged 1000% markups AND had was the only supermarket in the entire country, I would not think twice.
