Can go through channel listings and the guide and everything but there is no video or audio coming through? When I left the TV earlier it was working fine. Is it me or is it TopTV?

When I came back it had a TopTV screensaver on and turning it off and on just shows a black screen but I can go through all the channel listings and select them.

Never tried anything of the sort before but can't try now coz someone has booked the dvd player lol :) will try laters thanks for reply

Obvious question but have you tried a hard reset yet?

Hard reset? What is that? What keys do you have to press and where (remote or decoder)?

There is no reset button on the TopTV decoder like on DStv, so please let me know how to do a hard reset, unless if you are referring to the unplugging option (which I hate doing).

I found that in the past, it would depend on which channel you leave it on. I used to watch Crime & Investigation and it would then just lock up the next day. So I learnt, that if I change the channel before midnight (autotune to another channel), it won't need a reset anymore. That doesn't happen on C&I anymore though...

It is a DSD910. One of the older ones. But I am sure it is a update done by multichoice which broke it... forcing us to buy newer decoders.

I've got the same one, and had it for years. I think it may be time to get a new one.

I had the same problem with being to "hard reset" my DSTV. Went to the local installer, they re-aligned my dish and I haven't had to reset it in 6 months.

There is a hard reset for the TopTV decoder; well, it's more like a reset to factory defaults than a hard reset. I found it by pushing every combination of two buttons, (there aren't many) after the installer ****ed up the settings. IIRC it's right arrow and power, but like I say, there aren't that many possibilities, so just try them all, if I didn't recall correctly.
