Herewith some information:

Some of our clients with the Uncapped DSL units have been experiencing intermittent disconnects, after numerous test we have found that if running an uncapped 512k or 1024k Business uncapped on a line larger than 1 Mb the line atenutation causes the unit to loose connectivity. After monitoring the port for some time we have noticed the VPN drops and this is what causes it. After converting these Telkom lines down to 1Mb, these problems stop.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar.

Well surely it would be a great way to lure customers in, so called uncapped. I think the 512 only goes for 6k, that's much more humane. ;)

you mean someone is actually paying R13k p/m for your uncapped offering?

i read it...i was referring to the 1024

however, as Beta stated, the 512 pricing is much more humane
R13 000 pm is for 4mb uncapped, which doesn't run off the IS backbone.

Or perhaps in a way that you might understand: 1mb uncapd duznt cst r13k, 4mb duz. He is talkn abt da 1mb n 512k uncapd accnts dat run off IS.

Did someone mention uncapped and South Africa in the same sentence?

Proff

well maybe for you its expensive but some ppl might have a use for it, it may not humane but companies isp's must try their best to make a living

beta maybe all the isp's should run at a loss would that be more humane to you?

im not sure of the costs involved with providing uncapped, however, wouldnt it be wiser to lower the cost just a bit?

i dunno...but wouldnt for e.g

500 users @ R6000 p.m be better than

100 users @ R13000 p.m ?

i mean surely more customers would be interested if the prices werent so high?

but maybe i am completely wrong again..

You seem to be missing the point that ODS have to pay for this bandwidth, and supporting 500 users costs 5 times as much as supporting 100.

Support for 500 users would cost more than support for 100. Though I also like the idea of more customers with lower prices, more people benefit that way.
