Hi everyone,

I just have a quick, and I hope pretty basic, question.

From what I understand IS is offering an uncapped solution for R1250 per month. Only thing is that you can't use p2p.

Now please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the OpenWeb proxies "disguise" the traffic through the p2p networks as http? Surely this would be a pretty good way of getting around that problem?

Hey KillKenny.

Technically it should work.

If anyone has an IS uncapped account....please contact me and we can test that!?

just out of interest..most p2p blockers these days run on layer 7 anyway...what that means is they open the packet and inspect the contents so they will pick up p2p on any port....

Well that is very good to know! :D

Do you get full speeds or are you shaped down to like 5kps like SAIX?

Wow, I'm all excited now! :)

IS dont shape at all...ever....they just use sat bandwidth and transparent proxies...my line is usaully full but a fair amount of that could be local torrents etc so im not sure what the int part is...

And is that the package I have seen advertised for R1250? Who are you going through? Or did you get it straight from IS?

yup the uncapped package, and the scaled down uncapped package, isnt shaped at all. Their capped adsl accounts do get shaped, but within reason and you would really need to be a crack addict to notice the shaping ;)

Killkenny I have private messaged you, figured you mentioned the R1250 package and I havnt seen it from anyone else but ourself.
