Is USB 3.1 possible with a Type-C and Micro-B connection?

I'm a bit confused when I saw this Takealot listing.



Is this possible? I thought for USB 3.0 and 3.1 that the micro-B plug/receptacle had an extended part to house the 5 extra pins.

They are both, this one supports only USB 2.0 speed.

I am also confused, as there is no term "micro female". Type C connector support USB 3.0 "Super Speed" links. The actual functionality (speed and power delivery) depends on the other side type of connector. Converter from Type-C to Micro-B is supported, also Type-C to Micro-B Super Speed (with extra pins), see USB cables matrix table here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

I intentionally didn't touch USB 3.1, as in marketting terms USB 3.1 is just USB 3.0 with Type-C connector.

I understand that USB type-C is possible with USB 3.0 and 3.1. However in that configuration above, the adapter is possible only at 2.0 speeds.



So the only configuration for USB 3.0 and 3.1 would be the above image (in terms of plugs).
This is wrong advertising on Takealot's part.
