Is Virgin Mobile Assistance a scam ?

Do not PM any personal Info to Virgin Mobile Assistance

In the meantime do not PM any persoan details to this indivual. Lets wait for some proper authentication from Virgin Mobile.

ID theft?

This would seems to be a great way to get into ID theft. You could get people to part with alot of personal info like this.

I doubt that dude is from VM ;) highly doubt it.

Has he asked for any personal info?

To me - from the link you posted - he's just trying to help. What other indications are there? His being polite? Remember he says he's not south african so it would make sense.

I'm sure rpm can get some verification either way.

He has requested info. I suggest you read his posts. His grammar and spelling is suspect. I don't think VM will allocate a person with a grade 5 education to rep them. The odd typo error is permissable but he's far to consistent with the "mistakes".

When Virgin Contact you they ask for a delivery adress and a whole bunch of other info for verification purposes. if this guy gets your name and your number, he calls you asks for all the other info and you trusting that he is from VM give it all to him.
RPM has closed the previous post so i think its not a good idea to send info to any person.

Those that have already dont divulge any more info to this/these people.

Well... just when I said it was cool to have a VM rep here...
I hope this is all just some kind of misunderstanding... still you never know..

Polite yes... but you have to admit that the advice he gave to Wynsam is kind of weird...
and hardware is hardware regardless of your nationality ;)

It is better to play it safe and I'm glad rpm has stepped in. Got to say Wynsam's caution is merited imo.

I'm sure rpm has the means to verify the authenticity of reps - I'm pretty sure the suggestion was once raise about possibility of a special ranking for reps that can only be bestowed by rpm in - sort of like a seal of authenticity.

There are so many helpfull people on this web site. Someone could easily be lulled into a false sense of security. There are always those who will try to exploit that.

I think the fact that he/she has not come back is very telling.

Hi Bwana

They will usually become 'company representatives'...a separate user group for this exact purpose...

RPM

Ok - I'm confused then. Sorry.

When I look at vodacom3g it shows him as a "MyADSL Master" so I'm looking in the wrong place.

Would it not be possible to change that so everyone sees that right away that he's a sanctioned rep - assuming of course that he is?

Otherwise - where can I see the company rep user group?

EDIT - I was looking in the wrong place. Click on Forum Leaders for a list of mods, reps, et al. :)

Hi guys. I was away for the weekend. I see there is a bit of chaos here at the moment.

Please don't send you details to anyone. I will get confirmation tomorrow about this person. I'm not saying that he is not from Virgin Mobile but it's funny that they get someone that is not local to sort out the problems.

Someone must have access to the local networks to sort out problems.

Will let you guys no asap.

PS, I'm not a Virgin Mobile representative. Like all you guys know I'm just helping out here. More like a middle man.

You can have a look here. http://www.hellopeter.com/details.asp?id=70869 Virgin Mobile knows that I'm helping. You can have a look at the suppliers response here.

Not necessary anymore!!! vodacom3g post something here please!
Look where ‘MyADSL Master’ was it now 'Vodacom Representative'!
Thanx for this, I feel more secure in the knowledge that the person I’m talking to is a confirmed Representative.

LOL, after all of v3g's 3534 posts, it is safe to say that v3g definitely represents Vodacom on MyADSL, but the new titles that rpm has applied [also to MTN_DD] will make that even clearer to new forumites :).
