Is Virgin Mobile Assistance a scam ?

Just a note, i was one of the rather unsafe people that gave "Virgin Mobile Assistance" my details for a 128k Sim on Saterday.

Today i got my 128k sim delivered to the adress i gave to the guy...

So obviously he did have some contact with Virgin.

I doubt that. Your details was forwarded earlier to Virgin Mobile if I remember correctly.

Yes, but i never gave a delivery adress, Virgin never phoned me. The adress i gave "Virgin Mobile Assistance" [my work addy] was what was written on the package that arrived....there's no other way they could know where to deliver it.
 
What address did you give Virgin when you signed the RISA form? Cos I didnt get a call from them, and I didnt give my address to Piesang and the card arrived safe and sound.

@diabolus, there is a simple & reasonable explanation: VM triangulated the last known location & positioning of your existing sim card & tracked you down, then dispatched the courier...:D​

I didn't sign any RISA form [where would one have signed it?]. My original sim, i walked into a Musica, pulled the package from the rack, paid for it and left. I bought the sim the day Virgin launched, so i think the Musica Clerks did not even know what i was buying, prolly thought it's a cool looking lucky packet. Besides i wouldnt use my work adress on such forms, i only use it for these courier type deliveries.

So only other explanation is the triangilation one from IC :D, or the one that is even more far fetched is that their systems are integrated with Virgin Money [those guys do have all my details and adresses] and they somehow figured this must be same person [even though Virgin Mobile do NOT have my ID, and they still DONT have my ID ].

The only info i generally worry about is my ID/Passport and banking details [so i don't send that anyone if i can help it]. Name+Delivery Address and one of my zillion prepaid phone numbers i have these days, i dont usually consider details people can get very far with in terms of Identity Theft (especially since my prepaid numbers STILL do not link to an ID no).

The reason why I doubt it that Virgin Mobile Assistance is really a representative for Virgin Mobile is because no-one at Virgin Mobile knows about him.

Why would Virgin Mobile have a representative that lives in the US?

Yes i agree, and i also think it is rather fishy. I was just pleasantly surprised to find the SIM on my desk within the "72 hours" the guy said i would get it.

Whether it was via you [Piesang] or Virgin's special Triangulation System to track my location or Virgin Mobile Assistance ...i got my sim ;) .

One of the fishy things was that the posts were from an SA IP address and not from the USA, but maybe it was done through an SA VM vpn or something, although the IP address was not identifiable as being associated with VM...
 
I doubt it, VM has some issues with there data sims, and Huwaei's also got sum smsll issues with drivers not loading correctly , doubt that the OS needs to be reloaded...

VMA definitely gave really weird answers to Wynsam. Maybe he just forwarded the info he received to VM, in an effort to prove his/her authencity when he/she clearly wasn't the real mccoy.
