Is your system as thick as a plank?

Yeah, it was a 'cheap' and 'easy' way to get started as I had an RPi lying around but looking at something like a NUC going forward, just need to find the time to get to it.
USB sata adapter plugged into pi, plus a small ssd
Problem gone.
 
How is the Roboguard wired to the D1? You said only siren but how do you know which zone triggered?

The zones of the Pi Alarm panel are monitored on my system. Unfortunately there is no way to see the zones of the Roboguard. Take the following typical scenario:

Prepare to leave the house to go to work, shop, etc. Clear all the zones in the HQ.

Walk to your car, then pull out of the driveway. I'll bet that you have already triggered at least one zone, so that zone is already flashing on the HQ.

Set the Roboguard alarm using the remote once you are clear of all the beams. The siren will beep once to indicate that it's armed. The siren will not scream.

If there is an intruder within the same zone, the Beam will send a signal to the HQ, to trigger the alarm and sound the siren. The LED on the HQ was already flashing since you left the house, so there is no difference on the HQ panel.

The Roboguard system works fine for what it is, but the interfacing and intelligence of the system falls far south of ideal.

So there is no way to select which zones you want armed other than physically pressing the zone buttons on the HQ?

I'm sure that you could connect wires to each of the switches and LEDs, then control and monitor them externally. Any other method would necessitate having the circuit diagram.
