ISDN2a and "normal" ADSL modem

Hi,
I have a client with a working ISDN 2a line who walked into a Telkom shop and ordered ADSL. They subsequently processed the order and told her that everything works - obviously it didn't.
After I had a look, I logged a fault with Telkom as the router was not synching at all (I am by no means an ISDN specialist, but after trying all available ports and connections, it was obvious that the line was not ADSL'ed).
The service guy - Brian - came and fixed it .. more or less anyway. What he did is remove the complete ISDN 2a box and then change something at the exchange (unfortunately, I wasn't there when he did this). As my client needs the ISDN 2a (they have various Gigasets that interface with each other), I want to know whether removing ISDN is the only option. Interestingly - as an afterthought - Brian stated that he could "come by in the weekend and get it working". This does sound very dodgy...
So here my questions:
1. Can you connect a stock ADSL modem to an ISDN 2a box (and get it working)?
2. Does the above deal sound dodgy to you?

Warm regards

ISDN and ADSL can't work simultaneously.

Your client would need a seperate phone line for the ADSL if they need to keep the ISDN.

At least this is what I have been told by knowledgable telecoms technicians.

If I'm not mistaken, ISDN is digital (the box at the premesis + box at exchange create a special link between each other), whereas ADSL runs over an analogue connection. Mixing them results in one of them messing up the other's signal.

1) Converted all my sites some years ago and, yes, the ISDN box has to go.

2) What's Brian going to make "work"? If he's asking for a personal gratuity to do it then its definitely dodgy.

ISDN and ADSL can't work simultaneously.
In this country.

You CAN get ADSL over ISDN on other phone systems, but Telkom's systems don't support it, so if they require ISDN, then their only option is to get an additional analogue line.

By the sounds of it, the telkom tech converted their ISDN line to analogue in order to support ADSL.
