Isn't it AMAZING ....

As for the taxes thing, pay it on time and the right amounts, you never hear a peep from SARS. :D
I generally get my assessments back quite quickly and they pay me anything they owe shortly after. Nothing like the nightmare that was the SARS of old.

They insist that it must be paid on the exact due date. However, he has been waiting for more than 6 months now for them to finalise his latest assessment.
Just like any business. They'll expect to be paid on time, but will take their time doing their bit.

I guarantee you'll not see one of the people responsible for the current sorry state of the power generating industry lose their job - it is greed, incompetence, poor work ethic, under qualified and a sick attitude of "entitlement" that is the main problem, not wet coal, and unforeseen technical hitches.
But that is fairly typical corporate behaviour. Sometimes the management get sent on their way with a big fat paycheck, sometimes they stay on and get a bonus to reward their incompetence.

Im close to strapping bombs to my person and killing Eskom employees just because..

One thing we forget is that it's INCOMPETENT ANC GOVERNMENT's fault we are sitting with electricity crises - NOT Eskom! Eksdom is not all innocent, but they DID provide IAG (Incompetent Anc Government) with realities about our power situation in 1998 already - thats 10years! And the "person" / minister in charge of minerals and energy at the time "wiped it off with her a$$" - I think this same thing that took some "government sponsored" (aka MY TAX MONEY) and flew with family somewhere for fun... Talking under correction here I have difficulty following all the IAG corruption and money wasting...

Anyway - point I am making is that yes we blame Eskom NOW when the electricity fails - but keep in mind WHO IS THE CAUSE!!!

To close off, I will add one of my favourite quotes of the year:
Tips to safe electricity: "Go to bed earlier to grow cleverer"
;)

Along the lines of the above "We'll do our best not to do our bit, but best you do yours", what I find incredulous is that as a nation "we" have accepted the whole "we accept collective responsibility" bit, but not one single person has been censured, slapped on the wrist etc (be it a government or Eskom management level), yet we as consumers are now threatened with MUCH higher tarriffs should you not meet Eskom/governments stated guideline of reducing your consumption in line with a formula developed by the same.

WTF are we as consumers now made to feel guilty about a problem that was COMPLETELY out of our control?

I understand that we need to do our bit in terms of trying to help ease the burden, but the reality is that this problem was caused by greedy and inept politicians and board members, yet none of them have been taken to task and we get burdened with the guilt because we are not doing enough to ease the problem.

And whilst we are on the subject, why have we never experienced the "wet coal" syndrome before? How is it suddenly such an issue? Are we to believe that prior to the beginning of this year that the coal used at the power stations never got wet before?

Yet it all gets lapped up by the press and the consumers with very little, if any, questions being asked.

Is it even possible to make these fatcats take any form of responsibility?
