ISOC-ZA asks for Local Loop Unbundling, SAT3 intervention

ISOC will join the other major players in making an oral presentation at the forthcoming ICASA ADSL regulation hearings.
Has a date been set for the hearings?

Excellent - another voice in the small handful of organisations that have had the coconuts to speak out.

Does this really matter? Afterall, Telkom would just chalk this up to the very vocal minority - the rest of their customer-base obviously don't have any objection to the charges being demanded of them for the level of service and quality provided ... Mwwahahaha :p

However ISOC-ZA is concerned that the complete scrapping of the connectivity charge will discourage other service providers to compete in this market.
This does not make any sense.
In one breath they are all pro unbundling the local loop but then in the other breath they want controls in place that include a "connectivity charge" ... you've got to keep your customers happy okay, not rip them off every time they want to change service providers. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
