Folks might not be aware but there has been quite a uproar with Mwebs service the last few days. For the downloaders, zero speed and for the gamers like me, zero steam connection and even independant MMORPG Eve online cannot run. Now my question applies to the calendar notice, I think it's fair for a company to have notice but surely there is a expectation that the consumer is still able to use the service during the notice period. If the service is unavailable or not able to provide what it is supposed to, should the notice period not be waived due to the product basically being defective?

And? even 2 weeks ago it was flying :D

Have a look at the mweb thread. A lot of people had major issues from about 15th August till first week of September. I have no problems now but that even goes futher to confirm that the problem resided with Mweb as an ISP and my point in this post that should it be allowable for an ISP to hold you to a one month cancellation notice when service is non-existant compared to previous months/years.

Have to agree with Kosmik at the time complaints were being posted every hour by various sources over a wide range of protocols, Mweb never took responsibility for the degraded service, Site like Mega Upload, File Sonic were blocked, still Mweb never admitted it was due to their shaping, streaming on many sites were very slow despite Mweb insisting that it was not shaped. Although these problem have all been eliminated with bandwidth upgrades it is disappointing that they were not transparent. Right now my account is perfect but I don't know how long it will last.

I doubt that there is much recourse for a consumer over a one month cancellation policy, perhaps over a long term contract it is worth a persons time to pursue it

I've asked this before: Taking isp to task

Not so pretty for all users over at openweb camp too; hardly limited to just one isp.
