Web Africa shaped - 300ms average

staying with them now

ya agreed, tried most ISP's in the country, webafrica is best by some margin for gaming.

Bloody hell, could the WA website be any more confusing if they tried?

So, 1GB of Shaped (expiring at the end of the month) costs R69. (http://webafrica.co.za/adsl/standard/)
But, right above that is a star that says Recharge R15/gb (starting at 3 gigabytes).

So, 4 GB of WA shaped data will cost me 69 + 15 + 15 + 15 = R114?

Somehow I don't think so.
I'm going to have to phone the confusing bastids.

Aaaaarg! And they actually pay people to confuse me.

Okay, phoned them, it's true, buy 1 GB for 69, and then topup for R45 and get 4GB (1GB + 3GB topup) for R114 instead of 4GB for R199.
Ludicrous.

I'll start with 1GB and see if it actually works first though.

Actually.

TopUp/Prepaid: 1gb that never expires = R69
Recharge: 1gb that expires at end of month = R15, BUT you have to buy in 3s, so 3gb for R45 that expire at end of month.

So in essence it is cheaper to take a R1gb prepaid account and just recharge it with 3.

WebAfrica, since I got them (2 weeks ago) I have done ICC 10 and 25 twice and haven't had one DC... not one! Which is a first for me, with ALL the other ISPs I have had I usually had over 1000ms in a 10 man but now with WA I have 300ms to 450ms in a 25 man!! Nothing beats WA for WoW it seems. And thats their shaped account btw.

I messed up, I was looking at the expiring 1GB, which is R59, not R69.

Anyways, let me see if I understand you correctly, you're saying:
I purchase the R69 prepaid non-expiring 1 GB account.
I immediately top it up with 3 more GB's @ R45.

Which in essence gives me 4 GB of non expiring shaped Web Africa data?
Or, does the 3GB part expire at the end of the month?

If it expires, then why on earth would I buy the R69 1GB non-expiring product and not the R59 1 GB expiring product?

The 3gb will expire, while the 1gb wont. It shows up separately in the DSL console too.

If the normal monthly account is cheaper go with that. I am not too up2date with all the things you can do or what is available.
