Cheaper Telecoms is easy.
Make 2 licenses available.
Have no Government investment and no BEE model.
Take SAT3 out of telkoms controll (They should never have had controll of it in the first place.)
 
“Telkom has an undue level of control of the ADSL market which it leverages against the interests of competing service providers and consumers,” said Brooks. He added that Telkom’s ability to compete in both the retail and wholesale market and the fact that there is no transparency between the wholesale and retail ADSL divisions of Telkom can make things very difficult for competing ISP’s.

ICASA surely can't do NOTHING after these hearings like last time.

Might not want to hear Telkom's PR spin on defending their high prices, caps, resets, etc. It's not a good thing for the health.

Nah, they will just queue Lyndall and Roy to come out and use big words like 'soon' and 'imminent'. They might not let Roy use his mandatory 4-6 weeks again this time though. Made him look like a nana last time round.
 
Somebody really, really need to grow a nice pair of big balls... there is enough evidence to point to the fact that the situation, as is now, is not good for the economy, and something need to be done...

What better way to protect your investment than to control the watcher/regulator. Guess controling the law is not enough, this way they can atleast fight competition head on too.
 
Government shares/ownership

Telkom = 38%
Sentech = 100%
SNO = +-30%

Control the regulator and you control your substantial cashflow from these investments.
Affordability and quality of service for the consumer comes in a very very very distant second place.
