ISPs & Web Hosts

Damn and there I went and also created a directory on Hellkom! hows that for coincidence :)

Great site, server location is a good idea...

I want to sign us up... I clicked provider signup and it just reloaded the main page (I'm using firefox 1.5) My IE is broken... will try on my office pc tomorrow.

Hey carlhead, sorry I wasn't too firefox friendly. I downloaded it and saw that it wants backslashes while IE want's forward slashes.

So much for uniform....

Anyway ... I fixed it now and you should be able to sign up on either one.

Also, I don't have a "you've signed up' page. You just receive an email after your signup. I'll add the page soon.

MaD: Mate, your list has been around for yonks and is still used by lots of people, my hat off to you there. The four of us just decided to make a concise site dedicated to a directory and specific site reviews. And anyway it's all for a good cause, we can share ;)

For sure :) that old little list on the front page was a bit pathetic tho which is why I re-did the whole site.. been a mission too, had to learn PHP lol

I know your pain ... I'm a C++ (now C#) person with Oracle all on Windows ...
All of the sudden PHP/MySQL/Linux/Apache ... no wander I'm going gray ;)

Ouch!

Which ISP have you chosen to host your ISP directory, if you don't mind me asking... just thought it would be interesing to know :p

I got a VPS from Servint.

They are in the US, but from my tests present the best response for us in SA.
The VPS gives me a mini-server so i basically dedicated that whole setup to this site and optimised it as such. if you ping the site from your ADSL connection you will see response times between 350-400ms, so it's as good as it's going to get for an overseas web host.

Also these guys have almost no downtime lately so we should be up for quite a while.

We also prepaid for the whole year, so no going back now ;)

Hi All,

Our ISP and Web Host directory is in final beta now.

We've done some bug fixes, cleaned up the front page and added a ranking system. Thanks to all who contributed and sent mails with suggestions, comments and bug reports.

Please let us know what you think of the site and what we can do to make it even more useful.

Thanks all,

PS: We've tested in MSIE and Firefox, if there are any well loved browsers, please let us know so we can test with those.

Nice

Well done! Looks great and views welll with Opera. Seems like a site I will bookmark. A bit like a one-stop reference shop which is always handy.

Do any of you see the site reformatting itself once or twice before it finishes loading on firefox?

That was quite weird, on IE, it loads ok ... on firefox, the tables all have diffrent sizes and then end up where they should be ...

I use Firefox 1.5.0.1 and it seems fine.

BTW great idea and nice clean look.

Wish this was arround when I was looking for a new isp.

Good luck.

mad, we did run the index page (for now) through the validator and the code is fine, maybe just my uber fast PC just can't keep up with the lightning fast and optimised code of firefox ;)

Txs toorie, and sorry we weren't there last time, but form the looks of things on our side ... we most likely will be around for your next few ...

Um cant add my Company... keeps telling me to make sure I filled in all the fields... which i did like 3 times..
