Sounds like the action of um****uicyrus said:How nice for you. Now, like I have said before I don't support Israel, or anyone else for that matter. In fact I stated before that the world would be better off if that entire region ceased to exist. The only difference is that I can see things for what they are. Israel needs to fight Hezbolla but Hezbolla doesn't want to fight Israel, they want to kill civilians. Israel on the other hand just wants to kill the militants attacking them and their weapons. The problem comes because Hezbolla runs and hides in the civilian population hoping that Israel will still come for them and end up killing those civilians so they get the exact reaction you have just shown.
Everyone is now looking at and condemning Israel and no-one is calling on Hezbolla to stop. Its all Israel.
So tell me, what would you like Israel to do with an enemy that won't engage it, hides behind the civilian population and still attacks only Israel's civilians.
You go on about how Israel are the real terrorists, why is it then that Israel are doing everything they can to limit civilian casualties while Hezbolla are doing everything they can to kill more civilians.
I wrote all that despite knowing that it is futile. People have the preconceptions and agendas and wont let anything get in the way of that.
Chuckle, chuckle. Read carefully with 33 votes in favor You do realise the UN isnt one country right?Sunnic said:Meeting in Lake Success N.Y. November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly approved the partition plan, with 33 votes in favor, 13 against, 10 abstentions and one absent (see list at end of document).
no doubt it was but under who's authority?
the US and UN ??????
You do realise the Philistines haven't been around since about 730B.C. the modern day Palestinians have absolutely no realtion to the Philistines, they are the same as the Jordanian, Syrian, and Lebanese arabs. In fact the term Palestinian only took on its current meaning in 1968 after the PLO decided to define it.Sunnic said:where the Philistines allowed on this vote and the answer is NO.
The Jews accepted the mandate the majority of Arabs did not and Israel's neighbours declared war on the fledgling state. These countries Egypt, Syria, Transjordan, Lebanon and Iraq, told the arabs living there at the time to flee so that they could wipe out the Jews. Israel won the war, in the process and subsequently they captured the land that the "palestinians" could have had if they had just agreed to peace. Those arabs that didnt flee are fully fledged members of Israeli society and even serve in the army http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=48711. And as for the refugees i'll leave you with this:Sunnic said:"After looking at various alternatives, the UN proposed the partitioning of Palestine into two independent States, one Palestinian Arab and the other Jewish, with Jerusalem internationalized. One of the two States envisaged in the partition plan proclaimed its independence as Israel and in the 1948 war expanded to occupy 77 per cent of the territory of Palestine. Israel also occupied the larger part of Jerusalem. Over half the indigenous Palestinian population fled or were expelled. "
Open your eyes, read something other than propaganda. Stop embarrasing yourself/insulting others. The Arab League forbade any Arab country from accepting these refugees or settling them in normal housing, preferring to leave them in squalid camps. Former UNRWA Director Ralph Galloway stated in 1958: "The Arab states do not want to solve the refugee problem. They want to keep it as an open sore, as a weapon against Israel. Arab leaders do not give a damn whether Arab refugees live or die."
Again, it was Arabs who resisted efforts by Israel to settle the refugees in normal housing from 1967-95, when Israel administered the lands.
And again in the late-1990s, when 97 percent of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza lived under full jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority, the refugees continued to be confined to camps -- despite the millions of UNWRA and international relief dollars which poured into PA coffers specifically for this purpose.
It is important to note, as Joan Peters documents in her seminal work, "From Time Immemorial," that the vast majority of these refugees did not live for generations on the land, but rather came from Egypt, Syria and Iraq as economic opportunities increased during the first half of the 20th century, the formative years of Jewish aliyah.
The United Nations' standard definition of a "refugee" is one who was forced to leave a "permanent" or "habitual" home. In the case of Arab refugees however, the UN broadened the definition of refugee to include anyone who lived in "Palestine" for only two years prior to Israel's statehood in 1948.
