Israel declares red alert

LoL I knew I was going to get flamed for that.

Majority of the Jews living in Israel are immigrants. At around the turn of the century they only consisted of 11% of the population in that area. Numbers only started to rise during World War 2.

I'm not pro nor anti Jew. Actually maybe the wording needs to be changed from Jew to Israelian. (I mean I know a lot of Jews that don't give a crap about Israel)

The fact is that Israel is an old Idea that has kept failing time and time again. (History tends to repeat has most of you know)

Let it go and live in peace somewhere else.

WHAT??? Have you any background on Ottoman Empire? Guess what, that were Muslim ruling over that ENTIRE territory, did they TAKE that land from Palestinian people? hmmm, when did this happen? Before there was a State of Israel?
That Egypt and Jordan BOTH occupy more land after the war than they did prior to the war to "destroy" Israel .. are they "occupiers" ?

Or the alternate may be true that the Palestinians wants the infrastructure the Israelis buld, which they were/are not able to do themselves, out of nothing?

You might just find that it was by a UN resolution, rather than by military force. The other bits of land were acquired during the various conflicts with the Arabs in the late 60's and early 70's.

If you think that the inhabitants of that land left their homes and villages willingly, you would be incorrect. Were those "conflicts" not military actions?
 
who was there BEFORE there was a "Palastine" ? The Ottomon Empire? They were Muslim. How did they get the land?

It's really sad this thing of Suicide bombers, can u imagine what could drive a human being into doing something like that. These people are desperate, wouldn't you be too if all the powerful nations of the world are against your people.

While it's not right, you have to admire the passion for freedom these people have.

These people come from poor war torn nations, how else do we think can they bring justice to any wrongs done to them.

And what do the powerful nations of the world do, they keep attacking them. Only to create more poverty and desperation. Sad really.

I talk of those who lived on the land in 1948.

My name is Nijmah Ahmed Jadullah and I am 65 years old. In 1948 I was 14. I was pregnant with my first baby that year and life was good. I lived in the village where I was born, where my parents and grandparents before them were born. Ras Abu Ammar village, just 14 miles west of Jerusalem, was beautiful. Actually.

Semitic is a Language Group, Not a Racial or Ethnic Group.

Amharic: Spoken in Ethiopia, Eritrea and the lands once known as Abyssinia
*

Arabic: The language of the Qur’an is spoken in all the Arab countries and in many Muslim dominated countries
*

Hebrew: Spoken in Israel and by some Jews and others outside of Israel
*

Aramaic: Spoken primarily by the Chaldeans of Iraq and by some Catholic and Maronite Christians in the world, at least during their church services if not in their homes or business
*

Syriac: Spoken by a few in various parts of Syria and in the Middle East

Anyways these people are essentially the same people. (Jews, Muslims)

They both claim origins from the same source, only thing that separates is the way they interpreted what has been happening in that region.

Didn’t want to say it but really these people have been suffering (both sides) because of their religious views.

I am sure that this has been discussed elsewhere on this most magnificant of sites but many of the inhabitants of that land are still there. And. And they are allowed to vote and be citizens,

But you implied that a bunch of jewish refugees rocked up at Haiffa, slapped the locals about and stuck a flag in the ground. Bull. Some learned people took a moral stand and formed the state of Israel. Any conflict after that had nothing to do with formation of the state.

Now this may a thin distinction but military action is what you do against a foreign opponent. The action you take against domestic opponents is a policing action. Even if you use the army to do it. (And I am excluding the blue cap type of stuff that the UN gets into).

But you have tried to change your arguement. You had stated 'most of the land...' Most of the land was 'given' to the state of Israel by the stroke of a pen. A few (less than most) bits were acquired in a variety of military actions.

Not according to Shimon Peres. He says the only justification for the state of Israel is a moral one. Without the moral justification you have no justification.

Nobody "owns" land - you just conquer it. If people owned land then does the USA belong to the Native American Indians, does Australia belong to the Aborigines, does South Africa belong to blacks?

If we carry on with that line of thinking, half the world would be uprooted. You and I would be getting training from Jews on how to survive without a country...

Your distinction is meaningless.

The pen-stroke was illegal and against the wishes of the inhabitants of most of the land occupied.

But time has its way of reversing wrongs.....
