I'm trying to port my Vodacom prepaid number to my new Contract I got last week from Telkom Mobile but I never receive the sms code in order for the port to go through. Went to two different Telkom shops on two separate days and nothing..

Anyone else experience this? Tekom Mobile says nothing wrong with their system as they did one the previous day... Could be a problem on Vodacom side not allowing the smses to come through to me?

Hopefully the Rep on the forum is able to assist you! Could be on Vodacom / Telkom Mobile side, another user tried to port his CELL C number over to Telkom Mobile and on occasions Telkom Mobile system was down for the porting to take place and once he did try to port over his number his CELL C number was inaccessible for 4 days.

Once the port does go through make sure the porting went through successful(Number reachable from all networks)

Rather speak to someone in the porting division example Telkom Mobile.

Had the same issues at the beginning of the month when I ported away from CellC to TM. First i was told that CellC hadn't released my number yet and have to wait. Eventually went to CellC and was told that the number was released. Then I was told by TM that I can't port using a Sim-Sonke sim card after we tried several different sims. Then we tried a normal prepaid sim card which didn't work either. By now my number had stopped working for a few days and whenever I dialed my number, I kept getting the same message that my number doesn't exist. It was all very frustrating. Eventually a young man at the N1 City branch helped me and we got it sorted. If you want to, you can ask for Willie Esterhuizen at he N1 City express branch. I think all-in-all it took about 2 weeks to eventually port with one week not having my number. For a couple of days I walked around with 3 cellphones. One with my existing CellC sim card, one with my new TM sim card and one with a temporary sim card just to be in touch with the office. As i said, very frustrating.

I think I'm going on 2 weeks now waiting for the port in.. So far not really having a good experience on Telkom Mobile if a port can take this long to figure out.

I am having a similar problem porting to Telkom Mobile from cell c. Telkom told me it would take 1 to 2 days, and my number is clear on cell c's side to be ported. Been waiting and waiting nearly 3 weeks now!!!! Have gone into Telkom like 10 times and numerous phone queries. The last i heard was that the people doing the porting at Telkom are on a training course and not doing any ports. Ai! Please someone let me know what I can do.

My initial contract was with autopage (a cell c contract). It ended in April, I notified altech I was planning to port and it is now on a month-to-month plan waiting to be ported. When I last contacted Altech (2 days ago) they checked and told me they had not received any porting requests from telkom.

Best is to move to cell c prepaid first then port to another provider. It's in the best interests to make porting as hard as possible, so I'm not surprised that you still waiting.

Yes always move to prepaid before requesting a port. Just makes things easier.

Porting problems

I think I'm going on 2 weeks now waiting for the port in.. So far not really having a good experience on Telkom Mobile if a port can take this long to figure out.

I have tried to port my number from Vodacom to Telkom twice, once by going in to the shop and then by calling. I seem to receive some calls to my number, but certain people just can't get me.

NUMBER UNAVAILABLE ON NETWORK

I am really hoping someone can assist us with this problem.

My wife has recently acquired a new Huawei P8 Lite handset on the new 1 GB Freeme Contract at Telkom Mobile. She was previously with MTN and so she ported her existing number over to Telkom. After waiting about a week, this was eventually done but she is now experiencing problems with incoming call from certain networks. She is unable to receive incoming calls from the Vodacom & Cell C networks and Telkom Landlines. The error message that these callers get when dialling in is "The number you have called is not available on the MTN Network".

She is however able to receive calls from Telkom Mobile or MTN numbers and can also make outgoing calls to all networks and service providers.

We have been to the local Telkom Mobile Agency but they have as yet not been able solve the problem and have escalated the problem through to their technical division. In the meantime my wife is unable to receive all her incoming calls which is very frustrating for her to say the least.

Any advice or assistance will be much appreciated.

I recently ported from and had the same issue, I contacted Telkom and they did something on their side and all the issues were resolved.

I suggest you call the call centre (180) and ask to speak to the porting department, they will know what to do exactly.

I am happy to say that I did my port, with a few issues (mtn not wanting to release my number) but I am a happy telkom customer now. I received an sms today saying I will be getting a daily gift for the next 7 days just to welcome me, got 17 Free minutes yesterday, today I got 10 free sms's.
