Issues with all ISP's?

So....

I am currently on a 4mb uncapped account with Afrihost. I've never had issues with them and have sung their praises, even referred a few people to them. Well things went pear shaped as from when their R1 deals and midnight to 18:00 free data on capped accounts ended.

Somehow the connection was not as good. The speeds would drop certain times and latency/pings would climb. As of late, about a month or so back, things became even worse. In the evening as from about 19:00/20:00 streaming for me is impossible. I can game yes but when the wife is not happy then nobody is happy so this makes it an issue.

Now many people have complained and afriman/afrigenie reply and try to assist when they can but I find it troublesome that we have to provide so much to them as in traceroutes and pings and nothing is really accomplished with this. At least that's how I feel.

So with me not being able to use my internet at night when it's actually needed I have decided to change ISP.

My problem now is this. I've read/skimmed through many threads here of the different ISP's and it seems that with all of them there are issues with high pings, packet loss, etc. All complaining that they can stream, can't check their mail, can't download a file, etc no matter which account they have (I think).

With that being said....

Who or which ISP will provide the most constant service being paid for? With which ISP will I get back to being able to game whilst my wife is streaming. Back to me streaming something in the one room and my wife streaming something in the next room. Who will be able to make my life better by making my wife happy again.

You ladies and gents help will be greatly appreciated....

Use test accounts to see which isp is giving you the best value.

I moved from AH to Telkom 4Mbps uncapped promo. I'm loving it. Just out of curiosity, did you test your exchange for congestion?

Yeah test accounts are that exactly. An account giving you the best results to entice you to sign up with them. I need feedback from those using an ISP for a while.

I have not checked my exchange for congestion in all honesty. I find it hard to think it's congestion when in the morning, early morning, I'm having the same issue with pings reaching 3000.

I could be wrong though so how do I check for congestion at my exchange?

For some reason, on some days at 3 in the morning I got congestion at my exchange but at 8 at night, no congestion.

To test congestion, on your desktop, search cmd, and type in "ping 155.239.255.250" without the inverted commas.

Alternatively, download Zertops line tool. Link: https://zertop.github.io/releases/latest/

If you do have an ASUS router, you can use the network tools function to test without the need for your desktop.

If are testing via your desktop though, make sure you test using your Ethernet cable connected.

When you have issues, just test and post your results here. Will check if there's congestion for you.

To give you an idea, this is my results:

Code:
PING 155.239.255.250 (155.239.255.250): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 155.239.255.250: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=14.9 ms
64 bytes from 155.239.255.250: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=18.6 ms
64 bytes from 155.239.255.250: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=15.1 ms
64 bytes from 155.239.255.250: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=14.9 ms
64 bytes from 155.239.255.250: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=14.7 ms

--- 155.239.255.250 ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 14.7/15.6/18.6 ms

If you get between 20ms and 30ms too , it's fine.
