So this is for the CloudGate Square Windows 10 Home 64GB PC.

Since getting it back in September, it's been one fault after another. I've tolerated it thus far....

The latest is the following right after it downloaded and applied some Windows updates.

So now on boot up it gives me the message of: "Preparing Automatic Repair"

Then it goes to a green screen with the following:

"Your PC/Device needs to be repaired.
The operating system couldn't be loaded because a critical system driver is missing or contains errors.

File: \WINDOWS\System32\drivers\intelpep.sys
Error code: 0xc0000102

You'll need to use recovery tools. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device) contact your PC administrator or PC/Device manufacturer
"

Any ideas?

I've contacted the Cloudgate help-desk/info, but at this time of year I'd be surprised if I were to get any sort of "prompt" reply.

You can use system recovery tools to fix most of your computer problems. However, there are times when you'll need to address such issues in a manual way like, for example, when your computer won't boot.

In these cases, you can use a tool named Bootrec.exe. It can help you troubleshoot and repair things like the master boot record (MBR), the boot sector or the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store.

Here's how it works.

SYS files such as intelpep.sys are third-party (eg. Microsoft Corporation) device drivers or critical system files that come as part of the Windows operating system.

Most SYS files allow internal PC hardware or attached hardware, such as a printer, to communicate with third-party software programs (eg. web browsers, word processors, Microsoft Windows) and the operating system (eg. Windows 8.1).

Other SYS files are critical system files called "kernel mode device drivers" which are used to power the Windows 8.1 operating system.

Files such as "CONFIG.SYS" contain configuration settings and specify what device drivers should be loaded by the operating system.

Without driver files such as intelpep.sys, you wouldn't be able to do simple tasks such as printing a document.

^^
Cheers for the info. :)

I've got some free time later today so I'll see what's going on.
I'll probably go the obvious route and just download the Windows 10 recovery tool and get everything on an USB stick.
Maybe that will be enough to wake the beast up. :p
And hopefully my settings and apps will still be there.

The links above are created by automated bots. They prompt you to download their utilities which might inject your PC with rootkits or other malware.

I would only trust utilities including bootable image recovery disk from here: https://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/27180-windows-10-recovery-tools-bootable-rescue-disk.html

Thanks for that, but I already grabbed what I needed from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

As we speak, the Cloudgate device is in "recovery mode", and hopefully I'll see some positive results.

I never use their 'utilities links' for that very reason, but sometimes there is genuine information detailed in the posts that can in fact be useful in solving some issues.

Problem fixed. Thanks for the input guys.

BTW, not a peep from the Cloudgate guys. No email response, no call back on phone, no reply on Twitter, etc. Nada, zero.
Maybe one can give them the benefit of the doubt at this time of year. But not even a single automated response.....

Hopefully this isn't a true reflection of their "after-sales service".
