iStore Android Device Trade-In

- Photos app automatically sorts photos old > new and you can’t change this - unless you create a photo album . That’s strange enough but then in 3rd party apps (ie Mail) when you add a photo, it opens new > old.
Mail is an Apple app, not 3rd party.

- Again a photo thing, but no manual mode on the iPhone. You can’t change any settings you want. In used to enjoy aperture mode - but nothing similar on my iPhone
iPhones have a fixed aperture so there's nothing to change.

Actually it's not just iPhones, it's the vast majority of phones. IIRC there were/are a handful of (older) Samsungs and maybe a Motorola or two (and a few others) that did but it's definitely not commonplace.

Typo - but even worse that both open the photo sorting differently . Anyway - he asked for experience and one of the things in inconsistencies among how photos are sorted .

Is there a way to take a photo of a car and blur the background, as well as change the level?
Like a portrait for objects ?

EDIT : Seems portrait does both portraits & objects - so my earlier point is null. Sorry. But the lack of manual controls could annoy some

Then they could just download one of the myriad of camera apps available. Halide is well regarded.

No split screen... Picture in Picture 'tho, and I think that's what you were looking for.
No, I mean having 2 apps opening simultaneously, sharing the screen.

But available on iPad.

Where it makes sense and has a real world use case due to the larger screen.
Not really true. It does make sense on a phone and does have a real world use. I use the feature frequently on my phone. You'll be surprised just how practical it is. Especially when comparing things or doing banking.

Edited for grammar

I compare things quite happily by just flipping through apps.

When I need to do real work I pull out the devices made for that purpose…namely my iPad or Macbook.

Just because a phone CAN do it, doesn’t mean it should.

Do you think you’ve maybe adjusted over the years to doing it that way because it can’t do it?

Has anyone here switched from Android to iPhone?
What was your experience like?
Was it easy to adapt?
Any advice for a newbie who has been using Android almost 7 years?
Just moved from Samsung to iphone 14, still learning how to do a few things. Routines are a bit more limited on the iphone.

Main reason for a switch was that Samsung flagship phones are so similar in terms of specs etc when you upgrade it doesn’t feel like you have a new phone.

I just went from the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 to the iPhone 13 (Midnight) yesterday.

Congratulations on your purchase. I hope you have lots of fun with it and it exceeds your expectations. What colour 14 did you get?

My reason for the switch is mostly the same as yours. The Android and One UI softwares have been refined to the point where there isn’t much left for Google or Samsung to do. The way to experience something “new” is to go for a new form factor (like a foldable device) or a different OS.

I initially did the former but didn’t enjoy the new form factor experience like I thought I would.

So new (i)OS it is…

How did you manage the trade-in?

How did you manage the trade-in?
It was super easy. Not unlike any other trade-in deal anywhere else between any other devices.

1. You make an appointment (not that my appointment time was honoured…)
2. Go in, fill in your details and device details on the iPad
3. Trade-in value comes up after inserting said device details
4. Device goes through a basic evaluation by the staff member to confirm value quoted

There is some conflicting information about the value. At the store I was told it is valid for 24 hours. The consultant on the iStore online chat said it is valid for 7 days. I went back to the store 48 hours after my initial valuation and they did the process again. It was different by about R4 or something so I wasn’t bothered.

A few - and we all have different experiences, based on what we did with Android . I love the photography side and was a bit annoyed with a few things :

- Photos app automatically sorts photos old > new and you can’t change this - unless you create a photo album . That’s strange enough but then in 3rd party apps (ie Mail) when you add a photo, it opens new > old.

- Again a photo thing, but no manual mode on the iPhone. You can’t change any settings you want. In used to enjoy aperture mode - but nothing similar on my iPhone

- I found the share sheet limited or non existent. In other words, when you go to the Photo app and share to Instagram - it’ll bypass all editing . You may as well just go to the app and open the photo. The editing app I used to use (Snapseed) isn’t even available to share.

- I found some apps (generally the local) worse or limited features on iOS. 22Seven, Childcloud, Private Property, Snapseed all work better on Android .

- I don’t find it as stable as people say - I rebooted twice yesterday as iMessage glitches and Layout gave me seemed to glitch. I’ve had a few errors on WhatsApp with uploading status or sending voice notes where a screen came up and asked to reboot. On the odd occasion YouTube displayed a blank video (sound and preview works - just the video didn’t).

- WhatApp history could be an issue to transfer from Android to iOS. I just couldn’t be bothered and started fresh.

- I do wish there was a separate app for SMS rather than iMessage. It just clogs up with texts. That said, yesterday I chose to keep 30 days so maybe that will help

- You have 40w charging or something? That may or may not be something you need to get used to. I had it for 4.5 years and dropping to 20w made me a bit more conscious. I know that I can’t plug in 20 minutes before loadshedding and get enough power to get through.

So those are my issues - but overall, everything works as it should and I’ll buy another iPhone. But I’ll wait until usb c
Lol not anymore... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.niksoftware.snapseed&hl=en
