* IT qualification or practical IT support experience in a similar environment for at least 5 years. Experience in Windows Server SBS, Firewall, Switch and Networking, VoIP, VPN and RemoteApps and VMWare.*

Description: A biotechnology company in Cape Town is looking for an IT manager to join their team. Key duties will include: Maintaining information technology; researching and implementing technological strategic solutions; accomplishing information technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures; maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orientating, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities; maintaining the organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies; directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects; completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data centre; verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented; preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures; recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements; accomplishing financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective action; maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards; maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies; contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Key Requirements: Supporting Windows Server SBS 2008 2003 and 2008; 5 years Desktop Support; 3 years MS SQL Database administration experience (Beneficial); MS Exchange administration; backup solution implementation and maintenance; VMWare experience; Firewall, Switch and Networking experience; VoIP experience; VPN and RemoteApps experience; DR Implementation and maintenance; SOP writing; MS SharePoint 2013 experience (Beneficial); LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) experience; grid or cluster computing; GPU clusters; Augmented reality and/or virtual reality; Systems required for “big data” analytics
Skills required: Technical management; technical understanding; vendor management; analyzing information; good communication; staffing; problem solving; server management; desktop support; developing budgets; strategic planning
Remuneration: Market related and dependent on experience and skills.
