Unfortunately, as we have seen this past week, my fears[expressed in 2008] have come true. One does not need to approve of Russia’s military actions to analyze its stated motivation: NATO membership for Ukraine was a red line it was not willing to see crossed. As we find ourselves at risk of a terrible escalation, we should remind ourselves that it didn’t have to happen this way. There was no advantage to the United States to expand and threaten to expand NATO to Russia’s doorstep. There is no way to argue that we are any safer for it.

NATO itself was a huge mistake.

Always

When are you changing your dp to show you stand with Kievfefe?
That means nothing, I'd rather either donate my time, money and real life action. I've adopted 2x int charities towards that end and are currently looking at local options ZA-ers.

As long as their are mad dictators in the world... yes we need NATO
who guards the guards?

Gaddafi and Asad both were/are objectively better for the world than what followed their removal/attempted removal, yet they're labelled dictators.

So the US has proven, time and again, it cannot be trusted to be the world's policeman. What makes you think NATO can be trusted with that role? ... ignoring for the moment the fact that it is officially not NATO's role, they're all about the "defence"
