It could be worse: Eskom

Power utility Eskom says that it is not in crisis despite its financial and operational woes which has led to bouts of load shedding over the past two weekends.
 
If cutting the power to sections of the grid for hours at a time is not crisis, it's certainly on the precipice of one.

While any customer is deliberately cut off by the supplier due to fault of the supplier, especially in this case of a basic and required infrastructure, the supplier should not be making a profit but spending every available cent on fixing or mitigating the problem.

When the supplier reports profit while unable to deliver services, it means the supplier is not really trying to fix the problem nor is it taking responsibility for the problem.
 
It could be worse...but not by much.

In other news, Etzinger is fast becoming the next Vusi Mona.
 
I suppose a total blackout, an outbreak of the black plague and an invasion by foreign military forces could all be worse.

My blood boils just at the mention of Eskom. They must be the most useless company on planet Earth (probably in the whole universe too) they are an incompetent bunch of cretins.:mad:
 
How about we link load shedding and bonus shedding this year.
 
As Chris Yelland put it:
“South Africa is blessed and endowed with huge energy resources both from coal to nuclear to wind to solar, promising gas resources etc…no we don’t have an energy crisis. But we do have a serious Eskom management crisis.”

He went further and called it an energy management crisis, starting with cabinet, through to the regulator, through to the Department of Energy, Department of Public Enterprises, Eskom, and the municipal electricity distributors.

Maybe my point of view differs from yours with regard to the meeting of electricity demand. If you cut power to a town I see your success rate as 0%.
I guess I should congratulate you on almost achieving your goals. :rolleyes:
 
It could be worse, Eskom could be blissfully unaware of the extent of the crisis and determined to do nothing in the midst of degrading conditions! ....

Oh, wait... :erm:
