For goodness sakes people - write your web sites so they do not require the "www" in front of the domain name.

You all clearly have no cooking clue about DNS.
A domain name starts life pointing to an A record and from there the zone grows.
Remember web sites are not necessarily hosted with the same server as the NS records. Only the moms and pops are.
Let's stop the childish rants shall we?

If I don't put a www in front of most our websites, then you won't find them! The www tells your lame puter to look for the web server, and not the mail, DNS or database server. Once you setup a large site which needs multiple server (i.e. separate DNS, SQL, SMTP/POP3/IAMP, etc) then you'll understand the significance of pointing the rigt traffic to the right server
and, this has nothing todo with web developers
