A former software engineer has been charged for allegedly stealing trade secrets from a telecoms firm in Chicago and trying to take the documents to China, federal justice officials said on Wednesday.

It's the same reason why the company I work for won't move over there. Sure it might work out cheaper on the mass production but usually comes at the cost of your IP.

Do IT pro's contracts include any clauses about IP? Are there any restrictions as to which companies you may work for should you quit? Is it standard procedure or decided on an individual basis? I'm wondering if the South African development scene is anywhere near the US in these regards...
