Italy vs Mexico

I watched the game and it was entertaining how Mexico played .
They'll be a good challenge for Bafana.

Mexico is a lot better than most give them credit for.. Personally, I think they will beat SA 3-0. That's my prediction..

Italy, as good as they are, probably went into the game believing they are the better side. But on any given day, any team can beat another :)

It does make it very interesting coz the group is now almost as tought as the Brazil/Portugal/Ivory Coast group. Paraguay are no walkovers, neither are the French, Bafana are playing well and have 40mill supporters behind them, Mexico are on the rise...hmmm...funtimes

Mexico have really good movement and Columbia walked through SA's defence a few times (though this was before booth came on;), unless we get a few penalties I dont see SA beating Mexico

Well mexico have been playing so many games while italy has not played very much. I think they last played in march or something while mexico have played what 4 or 5 friendlies already.

I would not read much into the game. We can take mexico i reckon. We can take france as well. Uruguay worries me though.

Mexico had 70% ball possession at the end of the first half against England

Yea but the friendlies at the moment are about trying different tactics and basically finding your starting 11.

I am not sure i would read much into them.

We will see but i don't think mexico are all that strong. Neither is france. Again it is hard to say because they have not been taking the friendlies as they would a world cup match or qualifier so i hope i am correct for our sake.

Been a few shocks of late as well, sebia lost to new zealand, the aussies nailed denmark. Few others but like i said these friendlies are not played the same way world cup matches will be. Spain scrapped through their friendly last night against the draw specialists :D.

You're speaking from a team perspective - when England played Mexico, the players were still competing for a place in the 23 man squad

Yup but surely they wanted to be part of the starting 11? That is their objective. Finding the starting 11. No good having a 23 man squad without any real idea who will play in the starting 11. Of course some teams have an idea who will play where but not all spots are a sealed deal.

So many good players a lot of the games are auditions for open spots. We will see come match day 1 :D. I hope for our sakes mexico is not strong.

Not all the players are good enough for starting spot so you would expect some big teams to get nailed like serbia and denmark for instance. Even Italy to some degree it was their first friendly since march i think.

Yea thats what I meant though, Englands players were playing for a ticket to SA(ie not ****ing around:D), and Mexico dominated them in the first half

Tell you what, I am not at all worried about France, they havn't been at top form lately... But Mexico always did worry me ... Infact our whole group..We are up against Uruguay that has won the cup twice, France and Mexico who won it once ... TOUGH ass group, I hope the atmosphere and the vuvuzleas will help Bafanna!

Yup we will need all the help we can get. Simple, pass and shoot well and we have a chance. Try dribble instead of slipping in a through ball and we are dead. Unless it is pienaar dribbling :D. He is pretty good at it but he knows when to dribble and when to pass.

I am confident we can progress

Drogba in trouble . Hope it's all good cause wow would that be a blow.

He scored a good goal in the friendly the other day.

Mphela is the South African Drogba.
Also Parker is very good, if he is a sub then he's a good one like Moeneeb J. is to Khune.
I predict Bafana and Mexico to go through -- I could be wrong.
Credit to Bafana for being entertaining.

I believe we will beat them 5 - 0 as that's the score I got when playing the same match on the PS3 game :D

Can't we convince Parreira to pick you in the team. ;)

I listened to a very interesting discussion on the radio in the week. The chap who is involved with their psychological preparation (was also involved with the rugby and cricket teams) suggested that the home crowd will give them tremendous energy and the biggest hurdle will be to get them to stay calm. With that in mind I watched the game today and thought that Bafana would have done even better if they were able to slow the game down somewhat and to control the pace to a greater degree.

Mexico has been impressive so far, but let's hope that the crowd will lift bafana and see them win the first very very important game.

This is what happens when you leave your best players at home. The sooner italy gets embarrased and out of wc 2010 the better for us all. Then we can concentrate on the prandelli era and hopefully the likes of cassano, miccoli, balotelli, ect will get picked.

So many players in this squad who doesn't deserve their spot but got in due to past performances or being lippi's friends.
