Adsl: 2Mb
ISP: Telkom

I thought it may just be temporary network problems, but this is the the second weekend in a row that my P2P downloads are being throttled, during the day on a weekend!!!!!!

Can anyone please tell me whether it is policy for Telkom to throttle P2P downloads between 6am and 12 midnight on the weekends, specifically?

Seem to be experiencing that as well, but on Openweb. :(

I was with Openweb three weeks ago and when I ran my P2P downloads on the weekends, there were long periods of reduced speed (about 2 to 3 hour periods), but even when that happened the speed didn't slow down to 0.1kbs

Since I've switched to Telkom my torrents have been completely throttled on the weekend!

You Tube streaming and other forms of downloads are working fine.

That's pretty much what I've been getting the entire day, it won't go higher than about 4KB/s. O_O Wtf is up with that?! General speeds are just piss poor.

WTH is wrong with you people, Telkom and OW is not a ISP for heavy downloaders (P2P).

Get a Different ISP please.

It's one thing for not "heavy downloading", it's another entirely to throttle you to ~40KB/s on a 4Meg line after hours and weekends.

Everytime I create a ticket for it, I get a new login, it works for a weekend as intended, then after that, it's back to the usual incredibly slow speeds.

Has it not crossed your mind that Telkom is just not for you?

It isn't even 1/3 through the month. How do you say heavy downloader when the throttling happens even on the first?

As per my original post (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...r-the-weekend?highlight=telkom+throttling+p2p) , I've only been with telkom since 30/04/2014.

My total usage is 10GB for the month thus far, I dont think thats enough to constitute any form of P2P throttling. No one knows what their experience will be on a network until they've tried it themselves, so assuming that i am an excessive downloader or that i should know better is not a helpful response

Just got off the phone with telkom customer service, told me to call back on Monday....couldn't answer any of my questions.

Is anyone else have the same problem with Telkom (p2p downloads on the weekend)?

Damn, thats the best ive seen so far.

Definitely not the best. Remember that those stats are on a 2Mb profile. They'll change significantly on a 10Mb profile on adsl2+.

Here's mine on 10Mb

Upstream Downstream
Current Rate (Kbps) 1016 10236
Max Rate (Kbps) 1092 26608
SNR Margin (dB) 10.3 31.4
Line Attenuation (dB) 3.5 13.3
Errors (Pkts) 0 0

Upstream is at the limit but on the downstream side there is huge potential for still higher speeds. Now we wait for VDSL to go live in my area...

Thanks guys......

I get the point and trust me I'm listening.....i'll be switching over to a new ISP as of the new month.

I would still like to know whether it's par for the course/standard procedure for telkom to throttle P2P downloads between 6am and midnight on Saturdays and Sundays?

If you dont go with Afrihost Business, you are iong to have the same problem as now.

And dont cry about the price, its premium.
