Description: Division: Technical Location: Stellenbosch, South Africa Vacancy type: Permanent Number of vacancies: 1 Remuneration: Dependent on Candidate Overview The ITS Manager will provide leadership and guidance including the development of overall information technology strategy as well as implementation of project driven computing systems and network infrastructure. The duties and responsibilities of the ITS Manager (which duties are performed personally or through subordinate managers) include, but are not limited to, the following: Key Tasks The duties and responsibilities of the ITS Manager include, but are not limited to, the following: • Design, develop and maintain an information technology infrastructure, including the design, development and maintenance of the network infrastructure supporting connectivity of systems; deploy and maintain new system infrastructure, including servers and software environments; design and support an overall intranet infrastructure supporting internal and external technological computing requirements; develop an information technology plan for all new projects procured; • Develop long-range computing plans to include providing adequate and accessible computer systems, improving techniques and provision for sufficient technical staff over the long term; • Develop and maintain computing standards relative to an overall strategy to provide an appropriate degree of standardization; • Coordinate regularly with information technology staff supporting the company’s clients to ensure that technology, infrastructure and long-range planning requirements are met and supported; • Serve on various information boards and company committees as appropriate; coordinate computing initiatives with other areas of these companies; • Maintain liaison with the CEO of the company to ensure utilization of current principles and techniques; • Recommend various personnel actions including hiring and performance appraisals of information technology staff; • Involved through all phases of the product deployment and support lifecycle; • Analyze client requirements from project documentation collected; • Work with a wide range of staff from all departments. Promotes and fosters a good team working relationship within the company and clients; • Monitor, review and update hardware components and system infrastructure for specific projects at client premises; • Maintain good working relationships with clients and their personnel. Qualifications A university degree in a technical, computer science, engineering or related field. Skill requirements: Essential experience: • minimum 3 year’s professional software development in an Engineering or Telecom related industry • experience of working with mature development processes with experience of all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle Desired experience: • experience in the mobile and/or broadband market including e.g. knowledge of telecom infrastructure e.g. content management, content delivery, billing software/processes • internet development experience including HTML user interfaces, PHP, Apache and JavaScript • relational and object database experience • TCP/IP experience • experience in delivering a finished software product including internal and external documentation Disposition Essential disposition: Candidates should additionally possess: • applicant must be fluent in english • general technical and commercial awareness • excellent communication skills with staff ranging from junior engineers to senior management • professional attitude towards project and general management practices • the spark and drive necessary to succeed in a dynamic environment • familiarity of working with different cultures and languages • must be prepared to travel • must be in possession of a valid passport • must be in possession of an valid drivers license
