It's time for Xbox 360 to adopt Blu-Ray

Everything this guy has just realised, i could have told him 2 years ago. besides adding blu ray tech to the Xbox will be a waste of time and money for MS and customers, considering most(not all) Xbox owners think blu-ray tech is a gimmick and is not needed for gaming, i mean why give Xbox owners some feature they clearly dont wont.
Then again, if Xbox does adopt blu-ray in the future, it could be a good thing for all console gamers, considering developers can take their games to new heights and not have to leave stuff out of their games (Lost Planet 2 as an example).

You knew 2 years ago that Blu Ray would win the format war - despite 2 outta 2 Sony format losses in history? That's pretty impressive.
No, not that blu-ray would win the format war, but rather that DVD9 would soon be to small, and that future games would maybe have to be gimped due to space limitations.
Well Blu Ray did win the format war in February 2008 ( 2 years ago). Toshiba left the building...
Funny how majority of games are still on DVD9(PS3 being the only console using BD)
Funny how games like lost planet 2 are now being gimped because of DVD9.

Does not hold, they could just as well have put it on 2 DVD if they wanted to.
Yes future xbox-xxx consoles will use bigger storage media (this might be blu-ray discs / or might be digital as well / Or some other media) to ship games, at the end when Microsoft launched blu-ray was not available, and digital distribution have made huge inroads into it. And If I remember all PC games still ship on DVD media
as well, and that have not stopped games being distributed. But in this area STEAM have taken over.
DLC that get released just after launch is also getting bigger and bigger, Just look at Burnout paradise, mass effect ii, Assassins creed. A Lot of the developers have started shifting away.

Reason why PC games have not use the BD format is because a lot of PC's do not have a BD drive. I remember when games were released on DVD from CD. It also took time for everyone to jump on the bandwagon. Also most PC games are compressed on a DVD9 and decompressed on the HDD.
And? I can tell you in 10 years Blu Ray will be too small, should it be dropped immediately and we all use holographic storage?
Is this just going to devolve into another XBox 360 bashing thread or are we actually going to discuss the topic as posted by the OP?

Use two, three or four DVDs. Doesn't bug me, I went through it with the 10 CD games on PC and before that with 10 stiffy discs.

I repeat as I did in the GoW3 thread, neither console is powerful enough to support, at any decent framerate, the kind of core game assets (i.e. textures, models, maps etc) that would require Blu-Ray levels of storage capacity for an average length game.

Both consoles took a gamble on a HD format, Xbox took a wise route by not making it a standard feature, fortunately it paid off for them because the Blu Ray format won. I don't see why both fanboy corners have to see the Xbox adopting Blu Ray as a victory/defeat, it is the standard that made it through the thick of it and it is probably going to be with us for some time.

The fact that three of the latest games in a row have been affected by the lack of the Xbox360 capacity is just a fiction of our imagination.
Well is seems that a few posts disappeared so there are no point on posting anything on MyBB.
There are too many SAD sacks feeling aggrieved when you post TRUE facts about consoles.

Xbox was launched was late 2005 overseas ... now almost 4.5 years later there is the odd game that may not benefit 100% ... but only 90%? :/ It's probably 70% into it's life cycle anyway
That doesn't sound like the end of the world - especially considering for the first 3 years of it's life, the BR games for PS3 had no benefit whatsoever and continually turned out games on par or lower than the Xbox version.
