Harare - Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe on Thursday said some white farmers would be spared under his controversial land reforms and urged Britain to compensate owners of property seized for redistribution.

"It's not every white farm which will be taken. Not necessarily," Mugabe said in reply to the leader of the predominantly-white Commercial Farmers Union (CFU) at a conference to lure investors.

"The responsibility of compensation rests on the shoulders of the British government and its allies," he said.

"We pay compensation for developments and improvements. That's our obligation and we have honoured that. Above all Zimbabwe upholds the sanctity of property rights.

"Sure there must be some compensation. Let's join hands and appeal to the British."

The man is definitely a complete loony.

What's the matter? It's okay for black people have a fit and demand compensation in the form of BEE and AA from the whites for apartheid, but he can't blame the real, strip mining British culprits?

Whites had land in SA, now they must give it back. Can't see why the same principle shouldn't be accepted in Zim, if it's accepted here.

South Africa might have experienced a couple of bumps along the way, but at least we should still emerge on the other side of BEE and AA with a semi-functional economy.

Zimbabwe is a country laid to waste by the senile actions of one man who will blame the Breeeteeesh for every single thing wrong with his country. He is a monumental idiot for taking a thriving produce-based economy and turning it into a total disaster by breaking up the breadbasket of the country and handing bits of it to the unschooled, unskilled masses.

He is the 2nd-biggest idiot in global politics, beat out only marginally by the president of Iran.
