Well, in the MNO's defence, it is true that the minister and ICASA have not been allocating spectrum as required. We also missed deadline after deadline on the analog TV spectrum switchoff, minister was sitting on her guava.
 
Cry me a river MTN. Spectrum isn't the problem, it's just corporate greed.

When you can afford to bundle 30GB once off with a contract and then turn around and charge R149 per GB for top-ups, it's clear that even a 50% drop is generous.
 
Of course spectrum plays a part, it's not the whole story but it definitely has an impact.

And it should be way less. In Kenya I paid R50 for 3gb lol
A caller on radio claimed a gig is lasting him more in Southern African countries (e.g. Mozambique) than in SA on the same network provider, that's for whatsapp calls mostly.
