Have any iTunes users here found a really great EQ configuration they can share? I'm struggling to make my music in iTunes sound as good as some online streaming sites like SoundCloud, RockRadio, RadioTunes etc. I have to assume those sites have got really great EQ settings in effect. The EQ presets in iTunes are pretty rubbish, especially the bass booster one. I generally just leave the rock preset on. I have compared specific tracks across services several times.

My setup is Audio-Technica M50X + external Asus U7 DAC & amp + iTunes & Apple Music. Sounds great most of the time, as I generally don't listen to bass heavy music. But when I do, I wish iTunes sounded as good as SoundCloud.

Can't you just pick the preset you like the most and tweak it to your personal taste then save it?

If it is streaming then maybe Itunes compresses the files too heavily meaning way lower quality.

With Soundcloud generally the type of file that is uploaded is what you hear in a stream.

Edit:

Apple Music streams at 256kbps

Soundcloud as a norm I would say is mostly 320kbps mp3 or 1411kbps wav as it is a professional platform for artists and they would upload higher quality files.

Just a thought.

Nope Soundcloud is 128kbps .mp3 that's why all the soundcloud downloaders can only download songs at 128 kbps .mp3

I do experiment with the EQ all the time. It's tricky though. I Googled for recommended EQ settings in iTunes and some of the more popular ones are configurations I wouldn't come up with in a million years. But I guess they're influenced by particular hardware configurations and listening tastes, so I'll keep experimenting to find something that works well for me.

Any particular reason you're limited to iTunes equalizer? Is your U7 driven off a Windows PC?

EQ is going to be different per song and definitely per type of music...that's kind of half the point of having it.

The source should make no difference at all, the only thing can be that the stuff on Soundcloud was already equalised before uploaded, but that's not because it's Soundcloud specifically.

Are frogs waterproof?

Have a look at this, it's a little clumsy as is, so look for the link on the same page and download the PEACE GUI.

That'll keep you out of mischief for the weekend.

Thanks! Checking out now.

Yeah but SoundCloud only really has bass heavy music like hip hop, rap, electronic etc. So within iTunes I'd typically use one EQ setting for those genres.

Holy s**t dude. This EQ is a hundred times better than the one in iTunes. Wtf is wrong with Apple. The sliders are in totally different positions for the main presets like rock, classical and dance.

Keep on looking at that EQ. The level of control available is astonishing.

Maybe also install the Peace GUI to make things a bit more user friendly.

Definitely - as suggested in post #9. It's the dog's wotsits.

Whoops, didn't read the whole thread, I got new headphones yesterday and started using Equalizer APO and Peace GUI to fine tune them.

Wish we had viper4android add on I use on my G3, the difference that little thing makes after tuning will make you cry.

Of course it's with .flac whilst I use standard iTunes 256kbps on iPhone but I defintaley prefer G3's sound now.
