Is there anyway to make iTunes scan the music library for any changes (deletes or additions) - either constantly or at a scheduled time?

I know there are other programs - but I'd like too see whether this is possible on iTunes

iTunes does this automatically as you rip or drag a new track into your library or delete a track from your library... New tracks are duplicated in the "Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music" folder while older tracks are deleted from the same folder. iTunes syncs your library as you perform the action.

If you're looking for an easier way to automatically add tracks you've downloaded to your iTunes library, the easiest way I've found is to point whatever software you're using to download music to the "Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Automatically Add to iTunes" folder as the destination for downloaded .mp3 files... iTunes will do the rest.

To answer your question, no not really, except in the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder, or with some Applescripts or 3rd party programs.
