I fell in to a really bad habit where I was drinking at least one can of coke everyday so decided to just stop drinking the stuff altogether.

I know that Coke, Fanta, etc are really bad for you mainly because of their huge sugar content but how do these compare to carbonated fruit drinks (Appeltizer, etc) and even to 100% fruit juices?

I tend to be drinking one more cup of coffee now each day and drink a lot of tea. People say I should just drink water, but I have tried to and it really doesn't work out because I just tend to not drink anything at all then. What is the healthiest beverage to drink besides plain water?

Any insights welcome :)

i have stopped gas drinks for around 3 years so not even sparkling bottled water

i drink tropika most of the time or milkshakes and water but i didnt see any difference but if i have to drink any gas drink now then i know i will feel sick

There's nothing really wrong with tea and coffee. But then the dangers of carbonated drinks are wildly exaggerated too. Obviously if you feel it was having some negative impact, then give it up. Same goes for tea and coffee. But if you like them and don't experience any negative consequences, then drink them.

Not a fan of plain water either.

Hmm I drink 500 to 1000ml of coke a day and a packet of sweets and then take aways for lunch and a cooked meal for supper, I don't eat breakfast, don't exercise, and I weigh 62kg :( I guess my metabolism is ftw

There is more sugar in a glass of apple juice than in a coke. Ive cut down my coke consumption from 2l a day to 340ml :D

ever heard of type 2 diabetes? it develops over time and that's the route that you're heading

Thanks for all the input so far guys.

I don't like Rooibos tea either hehe. I drink normal Ceylon tea.

I also have a very fast metabolism and can eat and drink basically what I want, doesn't mean it's healthy to that. Also once you start getting older this magic trick starts losing it's power and I really want to prevent this as I am almost 30 and think its time to start eating and drinking the correct things.

And I still drink on occasion. Drink beer very rarely this days (only when at parties, etc) and I drink a glass of red wine almost every evening. My wild days are over - really used to abuse my body when I was younger.

I also stopped carbonated drinks- best thing ever. Now they taste disgusting. fruit juice has sugar yes, but its fructose not sucrose, so you dont get that sugar spike and sugar drop afterwards. so your energy lasts a lot longer. PnP has a really nice 70% orange juice that comes in 4 liter containers. try that. also get a water filter and once your body is used to it, you'll notice that water actually tastes sweet.

Thanks, very useful info :)
