This is iWork - iPhoto is part of iLife but there is no free trial for that as far as I can tell. I'm definitely plonking down the $75 for that though just for the new iPhoto for a couple of my older machines.Have not tried yet - got a link for the trial?
My problem in buying it is that I only use iPhoto.... and paying for the full suit is a bit much when I never even bother with the other apps.
If you dont think you'll need the power of aperture then get iPhoto - I've just finished listening to macbreak weekly and apparently the changes are significant. Hopefully they'll have an edition of the iLifeZone out soon and they will go into more detail.Uoops muddled - iWork/iLife
You say the upgrade to iPhoto is worth the $79 even though I don't use the other apps.
I see Bootcamp v1.4 is out - have you tried it, still running beta 1.2 and shuddering at the 347mb download.
I've got rid of windows altogether on my MBP and cant remember when I last booted into windows on my mini so I'm probably not going to bother right now with that update.
Now where's my creditcard . . .Tuesday, Apple rolled out a refreshed iWork that added a spreadsheet, dubbed Numbers, to the earlier mix of a word processor/page layout Pages and presentation maker Keynote. But it was iWork's ability to handle the Open XML file format -- the new native format for Microsoft's own Office 2007 application suite -- that Michael Gartenberg of JupiterResearch talked about.
"This was the ultimate insult to injury," Gartenberg said. "Not only has Microsoft not delivered the ability to read and write Open XML in its Mac Office, but at the end of the day, Apple was the one who delivered."
Download the free 30 day trial and decide for yourself - http://www.apple.com/iwork/trial/Sounds like it is really a nice office package to use. Please keep posting any issues you encounter. Might spring for a version of it and keep Office '07 on the virtual side just in case I need something in there.
Thanks for the info.
I cant remember - does NJ have sales tax on computers? If so - Amazon it.will in a few weeks when in the states and probably with a new macbook. Will also give it a good run through at the apple store nearby.
Now, as much as I would like the good stuff to stay exclusive to the Mac, they need to release this for Windows, and put some effort into getting people to use it. If iWork gets a wider acceptance, especially in small businesses, Apple might actually have a chance of getting their computers into the business world.
Doubt it - iLife always comes with a new computer though.I believe the key is not really to have iWork on windows but to have it use an open format that works in iwork, open office and ms office.
Edit: Does anyone know if iLife 08 is going to be part of Leopard?
