That mini was technically out of date when you bought it wasnt it? Not that it was a bad buy . .

Kinda, yes. It was brand new though, but the Intels were already available. I'm just kinda disappointed that Apple is obsoleting it so quickly - a 1.33GHz G4 is still a reasonably powerful processor...
As far as I can tell its only the one app and if I understood correctly they are offering iMovie 06.

But why? What does it require that the G4 cannot do?
I think a lot of the new features simply require more than the processor can handle. http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/
That skimming has to be pretty intensive.

I guess they want it to look "fast" - but I'm quite happy to wait a little bit longer. I spend a good deal of time waiting for the Mini already. The result of a slow disc and shortage of memory. Oh, and Azureus running in the background. Why is it such a hog?
According to the guys at MBW the whole reason for the delay in iLife was down to them completely rebuilding iMovie from the ground up. I guess they had to make a cut off point and went with the G5 as being the minimum spec.

Still not the R556 and R684 (family pack) for the '06 versions are going for. But I suppose its the thought that counts!
Just bought iWorks online from the Apple Store (US) with my UK card for £38

Getting it cheaper is one thing but the pleasure of wandering around the Apple Store is almost worth the extra £17...

Not sure, delivery from the US to UK is unlikely to be an option though. You should be able to get it from the UK store.
I've got no need for the physical disk - just something else for me to misplace.
