Ill have to agree here. What you should be compairing is the ratio of white to black to coloured to indian as a population to the population in the jails. For example if the country is 70% black, 20% white and 10% other to get a fair comparison (not taking into affect povety levels) then for every 7 blacks in jail there should be 2 whites. But now take into consideration the population of "below the bread line" blacks vs whites, for every (thumb suck) 20-25 blacks below the bread line there is 1 white below the bread line. So in otherwords in relation or ratios, there should be about 25 blacks in jail as opposed to 1 white person for the demographics as to who occupys jail more % wise. If you have a look at this you will see that the ratio of people in jail is more like 1 white to every 1.2 blacks in jail which is pretty good considering the backgrounds of both the whites and blacks.(These stats are thumb sucked and in no way illustrate the true means of actual figures but is a good basis to compare things on - also assumption based on who's below bread line commits crime and gets caught to survive)

Is crime ok, if it's done by below the bread line? Is a rapist better or worse if he lives in Cliffton or in a shack off the highway? And if you want to go the because of below the bread line route, then you have to bring into account the types of crimes. Ie only below the bread line crimes will be allowed to below the bread line criminals.
Doing it this way, will remove the privileged white concept from it and return to my original claim that jail population represents social acceptance of crime as being bad only if you get caught doing it.
 
No crime is ok but my point was just as many whites commit crime as blacks if you look at the ratio's with blacks only committing slightly more.
 
White collar crimes I wouldnt be surprised if the whites outnumber the blacks 5 to 1 in the jail cells and this is due to the fact that more whites are in a position to commit such crimes. Does it make it right? No. But it just goes to show that people of different upbringing / social status does have a impact and with what the majority of blacks are living in you would expect there ratio to be 5 to 1 in crimes commited but that isnt the case. its much lower.

Blacks do more crime in the US even though the white population dwarfs the black.. Fact

But this isn't an issue of skin colour, it is a social issue, black people are mostly poor and therefore commit crime, poor whites, poor Indians etc. commit crime as well
