 I cannot believe it they discontinued the Cronat Gold so that they can sell the Kronung Mild. I by far prefer the flavour of the Cronat Gold so what I am asking for, no wait BEGGING for your opinions of similar tasting coffee. Or even if the filter Cronat is available. If I cannot find a decent replacement I will be forced to import my own coffee. :(

Coffee is poison and should be banned. It's vile bile.

Problem with most instant coffee in SA is that it contains chicory. While chicory is a health product and is good for you ... blah ... blah ... blah ... it ruins the taste.

Not Jacobs. It contains no chicory at all. 100% pure freeze dried coffee. I also miss the Cronat :(. Although I do think that the Kronung mild is an acceptable alternative.

I usually drink Kronung & ended up trying the Kronung Mild as there was no stock a few months back - I was quite surprised there was little differance between the 2, to my taste buds it was fine.
To the coffee haters Ricoffee ain't coffee!
Cornishrex maybe its a good excuse to buy an Expresso machine

I went through a phase were I was crazy about freshly roasted beans, espresso, etc but it ended up being too much of a hassle....

Now I'm happy with the freeze dried instant coffees - Nescafe Gold.

I tried the Douwe Egberts - horrible stuff. I might try the Kronung mild or whatever it is called again as my taste buds are totally messed up now trying all these different brands now. I am still trying to source buying from overseas though.

Eight years down the line I thought I would resurrect this topic because I just saw the Jacobs Gold coffee at Pick n Pay.

Just like the OP, I loved Jacobs Cronat Gold coffee until they discontinued it. I actually stopped running coffee after that until someone suggested Nescafe Gold.

I have been drinking Nescafe Gold for years now but that Cronat Gold taste has stuck with me till today.

I was wondering if anybody had a taste of the new Jacobs Gold coffee and whether it is any good or whether it is that same great Cronat Gold coffee given a slightly different name. I am willing to dump Nescafe if this is the old Cronat Gold I loved back then.

Would appreciate a response from someone who tried it.

I have a Saeco machine and 1kg beans at about R180 from Woolies, gives me about 55 cups of coffee
