I downgraded to 4.0. Who needs more accurate signal indication when you could be pirating your heart out with Installous...

Google iphone 3gs ios 4.0.2 jailbreak windows and if there is a jailbreak for that ios and devise there will be a tutorial on it :)

If you have mac you might even have better luck. There is nothing to be worried about when Jailbreaking your iphone,if you brick it you can always restore. You cant really brick an iphone and not be able to get it working again. There is 2 different ways to get your iphone working, this is DFU mode and Restore mode. Often people who brick their phones dont know about DFU mode so think they messed it up.

Jailbreaking your devise is worth it at the end of the day and the extra things you will be able to do will be awesome :)

Don't upgrade to 4.0.2, it doesn't do anything, and there's no jailbreak or unlock yet for 4.0.2 or 4.1. Please just wait. Make sure you have backups of your SHSH blobs.

He wont be able to downgrade unless he was jailbroken a previous firmware before this.

So to the OP, wait for the next jailbreak unless the above.

You can do a phone restore?
- Download iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw,
- open iTunes,
- power off phone, power on holding "Home key" until the apple logo appears,
- release power button
- click on your phone
- hold "shift" and click on restore
- select the downloaded image
- after restoring, visit jailbreakme.com on the iphone's browser.

Yes but you also have to have your SHSH downloaded via tinyumbrella and have tinyumbrella create a fake server for it.

Yes. A jailbreak is nearing completion. Do you require an unlock? Then definitely don't update. Else, you're OK.

No, iphone was bought in SA

Ok here's the deal.

If you were NOT jailbroken prior to this on a previous firmware < 4.0.2 then you have no chance of a jailbreak as it stands today. So you might as well update to 4.1 anyways.

If you WERE jailbroken prior to 4.0.2, then you can downgrade your iPhone to that previous firmware as you will (should) have the SHSH blobs stored in Cydia for that firmware version, which is required for the downgrade. And then, you would be able to jailbreak on that previous firmware version.
