was digging about in the store room and unearthed a pair of old ipods - a 1st gen touch

and a 4th gen

what to do with them, i was thinking.
the 1st gen was in pristine condition - there is a youngster car guard parking guy outside the local spar - always with earphones in the ears and bouncing away to music.
dilemma solved - ipod has a new owner.
the 4th gen has a cracked screen - but also 100% functioning.
what to do, what to do ?
it does a pretty decent job streaming to a bluetooth or wifi speaker / soundbar.
paired it with a polk soundbar in the garage.
(i enjoy washing the cars - therapeutic in a way, but better with music).
the sound was ok, but could be better - so i figured i would install vlc.
turns out a good idea, but a bit of a ballache - had to jailbreak the thing, then add "apple snyc", then install vlc.
persistence always rewards - job done.
all in all, probably an exersize in futility, i'll probably have lost interest by next weekend !!
was a moderately interesting little project, was not concerned about bricking it - it will also probably have a new home soon.
