hey all ,

i tried this jailbreak on my iPhone 3Gs running version 4.0 and the minute i " slide to jailbreak "it kicks me out and brings me back the home screen . Did anyone else experience this . I heard some people are having the same problem i have and i tried everything they suggested we do if we dont come right but still no luck .

Any useful info would be appreciated !

peace

I had to downgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.0.1. After that, jailbreakme.com worked fine.

Also on a 3GS.

hey guys, I'm not familiar with Jailbreaking my iPod Touch... just wanna know how secure is it and what would happen with the apps I already have on my iPood?? If you know where I can find more info on it it would be great too :)
Thanks in advance

Jailbreakme works with any iPod touch, up to iOS version 4.0.1. If you're running 4.0.2 it won't work.

There's really no risk, you go to the site, it jailbreaks you and installs cydia. More info? Try iclarified.com

I've jailbreaked my iPhone 3G on iOS 4.0.2 with redsnow yesterday.

Painless and fast.

Do you guys own factory unlocked iPhones? Does the jailbreak affect the factory unlock whatsoever?

That's really wierd. It should work on the 3GS up to 4.0.1 (4.0.2 doesn't work)

yeah the minute i slide to jailbreak it goes to my home screen on the iPhone .... iv tried everything . Even why i had the sync cable in it didnt work and when i took the sync cable out it still didnt work .

Sticky situation.

Had the same problem with a friends 3GS, resolved it by restoring the phone, jailbreaking, and then only restoring from backup.

BUT... the problem is if you restore now, you'll only be able to restore to 4.0.2 (as apple has stopped signing 4.0.1) which patches the jailbreakme exploit..and you don't have the 4.0.1 shsh blob I suppose?

So DO NOT UPGRADE.
Hmm I should actually add that to the guide really.. Should always use firmware umbrella to grab your shsh blobs before Apple stops signing that firmware.

Performance with iOS4 on 3G? I have heard bad stuff...

It's actually very very good!

A few things you shouldn't do when jailbreaking the 3G :

- do not enable multitasking (i did it with my first iOS4 jailbreak and it chewed battery life)
- disable Spotlight, by unticking all search options
- I had a different wallpaper for home and lock screen, just made it the same wallpaper and looks a bit faster
- dont use the "folders" option, where you place lots of icons inside a folder (I cant prove this one, but can see the difference)
- I didn't install Cydia with the last jailbreak, just wanted the battery meter + background wallpapers

My phone is running silky smooth and I might hold off on a Samsung Galaxy S for a bit longer.

Thanks a stack! going to give it a bash tonight I think :)

im gonna try to update my phone to 4.0.1 and see if that works ... i read up on some forum that i should give that a bash if all else fails .

Not yet..but be patient. Jailbreak for 4.0.2 will be along shortly as always.
